What do you feel with this handle?

Hello, shaving zealots. I would like to ask you regarding this handle design.
I seek for critics but also suggestions.
Is a 3.5in and 2.29oz, 8,89cm and 65g
Mainly I search for ideas at the top, area close to the thread, where we made that like a nut shape. Thanks for inspiration.

I presume this is about round metal handles.

Anything but fairly substantial knurling or, possibly, some fairly close horizontal rings or intricate patterns will not prevent slipperiness.

Smooth metal or vertical lines are not good enough.

My personal opinion. For what it's worth.

My hand or rather fingers do not stay in the same place on the handle as I shave.
It may move from very close to the head down to near the tip of the handle.
Hence, I prefer an overall slip proof handle.

This is my personal opinion only - I think the knurled section in the middle of the handle looks out of proportion from aesthetic perspective. There could be a more natural proportionality among the various sections of the handle - to me it looks busy, like its trying to be too many things at the same time. Simple and proportional is beautiful, IMHO. Also the knurling looks fairly sharp which I suppose is good for grip but I think it could be polished somewhat without losing the grip aspect - look at how James does his at Wolfman - beautiful look and feel plus good grip. I'm not sure I like the gear section close to the top - it looks like a machine part as well as a machined part if that makes sense. If the industrial machine part is the look you're going for then I think that gear section fits that.

This is from looking only at pictures and it is only my opinion. I appreciate your solicitation of user input. I think you are making beautiful razors.

Thanks for the nitty-gritty answers. It is difficult cause we haven't chance to work in just one step, but two, with two different machines. One can knurls up to 2.5in, the second one can finish the remained inch, but not knurled... Have to become a reseller for the Wolfman handles. I'll talk to them.

That said, I'm also not a fan of the look of the original style either as I think it looks too chunky and out of place near the neck of the handle. The difference in color exaggerates it even more to my eyes.

Thanks for including us in the feedback loop Thalasos. I agree with previous. I think you could take the same basic premise and eliminate some of the texture, turning it into a modernized version of a ball end. Knurling in the middle with the end finished like the "gear" section. I would likely prefer the entire grip area to be knurled as well.

agreed.

I prefer the simplistic designs in handles. think ufo, hempel, triad, etc.

We heard and changed the design of this handle, within what we want do: something unfamiliar but that looks fine. Knurled is milder than in a Bulldog style.
