So sometimes I travel. Sometimes I don't want to check bags for more reasons than just saving money. What do you guys do when you carry on? Gillette guard thing with one blade from India? Bic sensitive? What works for you?

I bring a Gillette Guard or two (I've got scores of them) and a Gem blade SE without the blade. Most places where I travel have drugstores with Gem SE blades readily available but, if not, I've always got my Guards.

Once I packed my razor and blades in the wrong suitcase — I had my “loaded” Mühle R41 and 5–10 blades in my carry-on. TSA had no issues with that, and I was able to fly out of the United States. My troubles began when switching flights in London Heathrow … let’s just say that I kept the razor and lost the blades. (And had to explain to the female security officer that yes, wet shaving with double edge blades is still a thing.)

So anyway, I actually enjoy two-blade cartridge razors from time to time, so for flight trips my Schick Super II or my Gillette Sensor Excel are the ones I turn to. With a travel brush and proper soap.

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

For me, if I am visiting family or friends, I mail DE blades ahead and just travel with an empty razor.  You wouldn't believe some of the contortions I have had to go through, including the time the TSA agents kept passing my bag through X-ray because they thought I had a bullet!  I kept asking if it was my DE razor.  They didn't think so.  Finally, they opened my shoulder bag only to find my Gillette NEW and thought the bottom of the handle looked like a bullet! (Don't ask. Rolleyes)  Most times I either sail right through or an immediate quick search of my bag takes care of the problem and I am on my way.  I also always carry either a Gillette Guard or some other single use or cartridge razor just in case.  When traveling to a new place, I never assume I will find a place that sells DE blades nor do I want to waste my time looking for them.  In that case, I always travel with a Guard or the like and a small can of shaving foam or gel.

TIP:  If you are taking a DE razor on board (minus any blades, of course) and it is a two or three piece, as opposed to a Twist-To-Open, take the razor apart and put it in a small zip-lock type bag.  You are much less likely to be stopped and have your bag opened, based on having the razor.

Fair enough, that's all kind of what I thought. I guess I'll have to pick up some various disposables and see if I can get a decent shave that doesn't tear up my face with any of them.

All goes into checked luggage including blades - international and domestic. Never once had an issue.

Good points thus far.

Domestic, quick trips, I typically pack a Feather Neo. Best cartridge razor I have used. If a longer trip, I have mailed blades ahead of time per Freddy 's comment but honestly it is a bit of a pain and I often don't have a lot of heads up when booking. In the US blades are easy enough to find at local drugstores though and I have also sourced locally.

International, I always check luggage and include my kit there.

I travel a lot, domestically and internationally. My rule of thumb is, if I'm going to miss it, I don't bring it. Too many variables with TSA and international locations.

If I'm driving, yes, I'll bring a nice setup, otherwise a simple setup will do. Most of the time I'm busy and I don't have time to really enjoy a good calming shave, so it is all about expediency.

I also have a Feather cartridge razor from Bullgoose. Very nice, but the handle's on the heavy side for a cartridge.
