Ancient Ocean Jasper and Brian Brown 6/8...the BB had a slightly deformed/dented in edge, and it took me five slurries to get it right before moving onto the finishing side.  The bevel near the edge is a merger mirror with no scratch pattern observable with the 30x loupe...the HHT was silent with zero resistance all along the cutting edge!  It’s ready to go!

Nice Ols67 - how do you like the Engstrom? I have a set of 7 of them, 1 is ivory and the rest the hard rubber.

Playing around a bit with a stone that I never considered the best, a blue-green asagi, and a pair of Gold Monkeys were up. One was finished with slurry from a worn 1200 Atoma (really worn, lol), and the other with a tomo. This morning’s shave revealed that both edges were functionally the same and both were excellent edges. So the stone is better than I remember.

Hi Steve!  Yes, I saw your set on BB...it’s beautiful and I was happy that you were the one to snag it off eBay!

The Engstrom is made of a harder steel, but not obnoxiously hard like my Tanifuji Cape 1000.  I believe that the Engstrom took an amazing edge.  It is pristine under the loupe, and the HHT was very interesting...just the slightest of touching the hair to the edge, and it fell silently...no plink...no feedback...nothing...exactly what one would want to be told from their HHT.

I am going to shave test the Engstrom later today or tomorrow....probably tomorrow, and I am really looking forward to it!

I like the way the JNATs look when they have a touch of green mixed in, and your set of GDs look great man!

This sharpening is a hymn to the Friends.
The razor is a perky old one of a friend.
A friend lent me the synthetic stones.
A friend invented the sharpening technique (Double Sharpening).
The channel where I studied it belongs to a friend.
