I recently bought a post-war vintage zamac razor in NOS condition.  Unfortunately the tip of the threaded center post didn't get plated.
It is presently in undamaged condition.  What can do to keep it that way?  Here is a picture.  I invite your suggestions.  Thank you.

What we do in motorsports for exposed threaded fasteners:
Spray wax ala ChainWax
Melted Wax ala bicycles
Copper or nickel based antiseize

Maybe a reputable place to re-plate that post for you? I am totally spit-balling here.

I own several Harleys.  One of them (that I built was in Easy Rider and the Mikuni calendar).  So, I have had a lot of parts chrome plated.  Generally, you should never plate threads because it add thickness and it could cause the piece to freeze in the bottom threads.  The gentleman from George makes a good point.  If you are going to screw it to the bottom you can use a silver anti-seize.  However, apply it sparingly because it could get messy.  I have never done this but a thin coat of wax may also work.  Good luck

I use a small drop of this, synthetic sewing machine oil, on all my Razors threads after using and then cleaning them.

Why? Doesn't this increase the likelihood of loosening of handle (and thus top cap and base plate) in the midst of the shave? Thanks for clarifying.

I put a drop of oil on my threads to protect them from metal on metal wear. That’s what the OP is asking about, how to prevent wear to his threads. I also use nylon washers on all of my Razors between the baseplate and handle to prevent any marring from metal on metal contact. When I shave I cinch it down tight, and I’ve never had a handle get loose during a shave.

Where can I get these washers? What are the specs? Thanks!
