Lavender! Not a fan of it by itself and when its paired with other notes it tends to dull the overall scent. Example: CB Purple Grapefruit. Screw lavender! And anything else purple, but not grapes.

I'm all with you on lavender. Or, I used to until I had an encounter with Nanny's Silly Soaps 'Down Home Summer' shaving soap, which is a vetiver lavender blend. I'm a fan of dirty and raw vetiver, but the lavender adds just the right touch of florality to it without dulling. I think it might be the best vetiver soap I've tried!

As Jimmy Durante once said many times over "The nose knows."
He was wrong. By dose doesn't doe anything.

I can smell the scents and like or can bear most of them except almond - Oh! And garlic and its entire allium family.
But I can not analyze them and discern the various components. I get one smell only with any of them.
Undoubtedly my shnoz needs further educating.

My favourite scent is The Blades Grim "Smolder" but I do favour a few others. Also the heavenly smell of a bakery.

Today I received Mystic Water Soap's "Lilac". It does not smell to me at all like lilac blossoms.
It has a very pleasant scent that reminds me of the smell of barber shops when I was a kid.
It is, however, an excellent shaving soap
But I would not try to pass judgement on it or any other scent except the almond and all alliums.

Strong patchouli dominant scents are a no go for me. If it is blended well in the background, it can be rather nice.

definitely agree with you there. the scent on its own is awful, but when blended together well, it's fine with me!

I happen to like the scent of straight patchouli. However, I happen to agree with you two that it is even better when properly blended with other EOs.
