This is an interesting thread. As very few shaving products are scented in a manner that makes them actually universally repulsive to humans (durian fruit scented?) its apparent that most people who have posted scents they dislike, dislike them for reasons of association of unpleasant memories with the scent - like hippies (its redundant to call them dirty) and whatnot. This would account in some part for the wild YMMV going on - very few of us have identical experiences and memories so our scent likes and dislikes are going to be all over the map. This poses obvious challenges for the artisans making the soaps and aftershaves we use to which the response I suppose is to make a widely varying number of fragrances - you're bound to appeal to all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time and thats probably the best that you can ask.
Fine American Blend, could not get the stink off of me quick enough.
Floid Vigarosa and Floid Blue, they just smell like a terrible chemical concoction to me. Fortunately I learned from my American Blend experience and only applied a dab of each Floid to an arm so avoided major suffering.
Powder scents in general. I love the scent of Italian Barber Amici soap, which has just a very slight powder undertone to it, but The Amici aftershave is nearly all powder scent once it dries down, which just ruins it for me.
I am rapidly finding that many of the longstanding "favorites" are just not for me. And no memory or other associations here for me, I just dislike the smells.

Forged I hear you, I got a Floid aftershave balm, can't recall the name but it was in an orange tube - smelled like plastic-y chemicals and inexplicably wound up in the trash. I like the various Speik products but I couldn't get used to the again funny plastic-y smell in the tube of aftershave balm. Tossed it. Probably used the same base as Floid. Why would I want to smell like a cheap vinyl shower curtain when you first take it out of the package?

Marko Lol, Exactly!!
I couldn't bring myself to chuck two 400ml bottles of aftershave, so they will be making an appearance on BST before long.

Blasphemy!
I know, I know, I have the masses against me on that one.
Torch bearing villagers brandishing pitchforks will be making an appearance shortly

It just goes to show how each of us senses something. I happen to really enjoy the scent of Floïd Blue but then I enjoy a powdery scent now and then. On the other hand, I think modern scents like Dior Sauvage or Armani Aqua di Giò are absolutely poisonous. It may be my age but I don't think that's entirely it. Oh well, to each his own.
This is kind of interesting.
I have been wearing and collecting fragrances since I was 14-15 years old.
Now in my 40's, and heavily into fragrances, owning more than 800 bottles/decants, 500+ full bottles, only a select few skanky scents can turn my stomach and nose these days.
Dior Leather Oud and Serge Lutens Musc Koublai Khan both smells like fecalls on my skin, Serge Lutens Arabie smells like curry on me, but other than these scents and the really skanky oud scents (not regular ouds but really daring ouds) I find my nose enjoys a wide variety of scents. Florals, woods, oud, Vetyver, citrus, gourmands, spicy (except curry), Fern, barbershop, aquatics - I pretty much enjoy them all - except Bay Rum.
I don't hate Bay Rum, but I don't enjoy it either.
The older I get, the more experienced and trained my nose has gotten, the less sensitive to scents I have become. But scents that smell like arse and fecalls on me still is NO GO. Some actually enjoy smelling a bit fecal. Trust me. They do.

Claus, I love your straightforward approach, there is no mistaking how you feel about a subject. Its refreshing, thank you.
When we talk about scents, the perception of which is highly subjective, its difficult not to inadvertently cause offence. I think most people on this thread seem to accept that not everybody may enjoy a given scent which they feel to be heavenly. Thats a very good thing as it allows a mature and informative discussion to evolve. Its made me actually think in detail beyond "I just like it" about what it is that attracts me to the various scents I like. I have to run and want to add more to this thought later, however, your comment about people enjoying smelling fecal explains some of the people I encounter on public transportation
