I LOVE BAY RUM!!! / And I dont like department store like scents. I also use what I want, my wife is jealous of all my shave stuff anyway, so I cant rely on her "honest opinion."

that's how I feel when I first smell arko sticks!!!! to me, they smell pretty darn close to citronella candles...the stuff we use to keep bugs away!

Now you did it! We went 7 pages without anybody mentioning Arko! Here we go.... Big Grin

I actually don't mind the scent of Arko. The first time I tried Arko, I was SO excited about the slickness and lack of razor burn, I don't think the scent mattered in the least to me. This was early on in my journey and I was struggling with just getting a decent shave. I've since found other soaps that provide slickness as well as many other wonderful properties. I will probably always keep Arko around if for nothing else but the nostalgia of one of my first successful traditional wet shaves. YMMV, as always!

Don't get me wrong...arko is slick and it's almost impossible to NOT create a good lather with it.

The scent...ehhhhh.

I neither like nor dislike Arko. Sort of like the color beige or the taste of water.

Good lather though and I love the retro packaging.

Maybe there should be an ARKO sans scent. That might sell even better than the current with scent. After all, the first job of a soap is to facilitate the shave and few would argue that ARKO doesn't do that as well or better than any other.

They could market it as two separate products; ARKO Original & ARKO Fresh Air Seasoned.

If a Bay Rum scent exists that I like it probably would be from B&M. Since it is clove free I may just have to buy a sample.

B&M Bay Rum does exist and its wonderful. But then who am I to judge, I love all of them. Almost.
