In the evening I post my impressions to the DFS thread "What soap/cream did you use today?" I've been doing this for about two years now just to amuse myself and to keep this hobby interesting. All told I've posted about 600 of these short soap notes. You can find a list of what I've tried by clicking on my avatar and then clicking on "Find All Posts." I hope they're useful.
Since many artisans are merely copying someone the top tier soaps are very much alike with most (if any) differences being almost entirely subjective at best. That said I would rate SS Uplift, A&E new goat milk soaps and the new DG Icarus base as all wonderful soaps and Wholly Kaw as well. These all give great shaves if used properly, but they won't grow hair or cure warts and impotence as some would like to believe.
We have almost reached the saturation point on fine artisan soaps IMO and most if any differences it appears are arguing over how many angels can dance on a pin head. Five years ago shave quality was all that mattered on the forums. Then scent became important. Then after shave "face feel". There is nowhere else to go. It has hit the "wall". It's nice to try a few new vendors to break monotony, but I am under no illusion that the next one will do something light years ahead of existing top tier ones. Did you ever wonder why you don't see organic chemists making soaps as a sideline?

Secretary Ramsey put his foot into it yesterday . . . in the course of his remarks he said that California “needs water and better society.” “So does h-ll,” yelled someone in the crowd.

My current rotation holds Nuávia by PannaCrema as a clear winner. After that, Stirling ezlovan or chiseledface , with a slight edge for Stirling on post shave feel. Although, scent-wise I prefer Chiseled Face usually.

No secret what my preferred soap is, but there are so many great soaps that it is impossible to have just five!
These are great and I would have more of them in my den if I didn't already have so many pucks of my primary soap. The only benefit to having such a large collection of one soap is that I haven't bought any soap for quite some time.
* Grooming Dept
* Jabonman
* Mike's
* Shannon's
* Nuavia
