In my experience as a scuttle latherer, just when I think the Esbjerg cannot possibly take another drop of water, I add more water. That last teaspoon always causes the scuttle finally to fill with slick lather, just like in the picture above. Good luck!

As mentioned by others, Esbjerg is a thirthy cream.

You can easyli overload it, and then you have to take the extra time to build the lather.

I mostly get a thick yoghurt like lather form my Esbjerg, sort of the same lather quality and thickness I get with my Castle Forbes and my Xpec, give or take a little. Same quality lather and performance in my opinion.

I get more volume in my lather with St. James and the 3 T's and DR Harris creams, but on the other hand these creams tend to dry out in the lather faster, and this is just one of several reasons why I think Castle Forbes, Xpec and Esbjerg are my Top creams at the moment together with Acqua di Parma and Antica Barbierra Colla.

I saw a YouTube video highlighting the EsbJerg cream (grapefruit) and was very intrigued at the high marks given to it even though I've never seen a SOTD with the cream. I decided to do some reading and found that only two spots in the States stock it. I went directly to the Esbjerg site to ask for samples; they did send them to me but they have yet to arrive (it's been almost 3 weeks). However, I asked Jim ShaveDash to see if he could obtain the samples and he did. I ordered them about 2 weeks ago and they arrived just the other day.

I tried the Orange Vetiver and this is when I wish that I'd read this thread first because I used about the same sized dollop of cream that I would use for an XPEC or AdP and my lather failed miserably; the shave was still decent but not what it should have been. The next day, I tried the Amber Cardamom and used twice as much cream as before and the lather came out very nice and yogurty with a great shave and I realized that I had underloaded it.

You have to use a ton of this cream to build an effective lather or you'll get a super thin, disappearing lather that isn't as slick or comforting as it normally would be.

After the two uses; I went to their site and bought 4 creams and 3 aftershave balms. If you hit 95 Euros, shipping to the States is free plus we are VAT exempt so this will bring the cost of a tub to about 15 Euros. The weather is warm now and my creams will probably arrive in an ugly state but I just had to buy some, to me, it's that good.

Take the time and add enough product to build a great lather and you will not be disappointed. I will be showing these off in my SOTDs when they arrive.

Esbjerg gives me some of the absolute best post shave experiences I ever enjoyed. Like others said, if you take time to learn it, it is very rewarding. I happened onto them because of my preference for near all natural without edta and other byproducts. Not many cream manufacturers meet that criteria.
