An innocent question not intended to offend anybody: if something is honestly cologne strength, how do you use it as an aftershave? I mean, if I am going to use an whole palm full and spread it all over my face to disinfect it, isn't that way too much cologne?

I ask this because I have used a PAA aftershave/cologne before (a heritage fragrance that I adore) but it was way too strong to use as an aftershave. I now just use it after a swim like an EDT with just a drop behind each ear.

Am I missing something?

I think that is a fair question. Do you mean using this along with a separate cologne? I just use aftershave and nothing else. So, for me, something with a little extra strength/longevity works. Obviously, all scents vary in strength, longevity, pillage, etc. I just use a few splashes ( little more/less depending on strength) and I'm good. I don't use a whole palm full myself so it works for me.

I think that this answers my question. I like to use aftershave liberally, very liberally. An overflowing palm full. Then I splash it and spread it all over my face and back of my neck (which I always shave). If I still have wet hands, I rub the remainder on my chest and nether regions (got to be respectful of the ladies!). So, something that says , "Aftershave and Cologne" on the bottle like PAA does is just too strong to use like that if they mean what they say.

Now, as a counter example, Clubman VIBR and Citrus Musk both say "cologne" somewhere on the bottle, but I find them to be no stronger than regular aftershaves. I do think that they make good after bath splashes in addition to being aftershaves, but are far too weak to be effective colognes or EDT's.

Maybe I am just defining the word "cologne" too strictly?

I would appreciate one of the vendors straightening me out on this issue.

CaD314 could possibly explain this for us. I also apply to my face and my neck and across chest if I have more than I needed for my face. I also do use witch hazel first, then I let it dry just a little as to have a little bit of moisture available on my face to apply the splash with. I find it easier to apply/distribute if I'm still a little moist.
