We have lived in NH for 19 years. We live in a log cabin, heat with wood, sometimes cook with wood and enjoy the perks of country living even though we are in suburbia.

But I think we have finally earned the title of New Hampshirite.

Why you say?

Allow me to submit the evidence.

Exhibit "A" - Plaid wrapping paper for Christmas.

Exhibit "B"
Totally unplanned we bought each other flannel shirts for Christmas

And last but not least. I discovered this when I turned my bed down last night.

Yep - It's official. We are New Hampshirites. Smile

ROTFLMAO! Yes you know you're a northern redneck when you have plaid flannel sheets and flannel PJs. You do have the PJs, right?

Even better. An old time flannel nightshirt that hangs down to your knees. And flannel bottoms for brunch or lounging but not sleeping.
They are a blue tartan plaid. I am really partial to the red/black buffalo plaid.

To further my northern redneck status I have a wool buffalo plaid jacket. And I received this coffee mug for Christmas Smile

Too funny!

How are you making out with the cold? Thursday night it was a measured -25°F here, and -20°F last night. Last night began as though it was only going to get into the negative single digits, but the sky must have cleared to give us our radiational cooling and the temp's just kept falling. I'd love to know what our temp's would have been without global warming in effect. Did you know that Al Gores predicted Arctic ice melt hasn't happened yet? Yesterday we never broke +1° I just checked and it's up to 2.7°, so we're having a heat wave.

I tried to have a conversation with the wife when we were outside yesterday but couldn't because the words froze as I was speaking. If we get a thaw she'll hear what I was saying.

Cold here but no where near as cold as you. -7°F the last 3 mornings. Daytime high of 12 or so. Yesterday was windy so it was brutal out. Of course dressing correctly negates that.

I have 2 wood stoves going and it is toasty warm inside. Other than hauling some fire wood we will stay inside for the weekend and holiday.

And that joke was sooo bad I actually laughed. ML too!

We don't burn oil when it gets this cold either. I light the wood stove when it gets below 20°. I don't like to burn wood warmer than that because it's too hard to control the output .
