Vintage Yardleys Of London Shaving Soap

I remember my Mom buying Yardley Soaps when she and Dad would go to Portland. I believe she got them at Nordstroms. I remember buying Menthol Williams at my local Bi-Mart in the early eighties. The Old Spice was sitting right next to it. A puck would last a couple months or so. I only used what I could find on the shelves back then. One puck at a time.

I have tried old Yardley shave soaps more than half a dozen times, and with only a couple exceptions they had virtually no scent left. But they all lathered extremely well. This is in marked contrast to the old Penhaligon's and Floris soaps, which maintain their scents well.

Nice score. The bowl is really cool, and if the soap is as good as they say, you got a sweet deal!

Even though the Lavender scent is basically gone the soap still puts out a slick protective lather that is comparable to MWF, or Tabac, and it lathers up just as easily with my soft city water. Yardley needs to start making shaving soap again.
