Vintage Yardleys Of London Shaving Soap

Hey I just got lucky on an auction and won for $25 shipped a vintage wooden bowl with lid of Yardleys Of London Shaving Soap. It's in good shape and in the center of the soap you can still read Yardleys Of London. If this soap was used it wasn't used much. Year's ago I saw Ebay auctions for this soap where it went for over $100.00. I'm looking forward to trying it.

Just checked the tracking and it should make it to my mailbox this afternoon.

I recieved the Yardley SS and am in the process of rehydrating it, basically blooming the puck. This soap hasn't been used. Going to try it tomorrow, who know's maybe I can pull a little lavender scent out of it.

Congrats on the score. Sounds like a pretty good deal. How long do you have to bloom the puck to bring the soap back to its prime?

I'm just going to let water sit on it for awhile and then I'm going to do a test lather to clean off the surface, and see how it lathers. It should lather really well. Here's some pic's.

It lathers really well, can't wait till tomorrow morning.

And thats just the clean off lather after I wiped the puck off with a paper towel and hand sanitizer.
This soap is a lather bomb, I think it lathers better than vintage Williams.

I have had the same experience with an original Old Spice shaving soap in its original mug. Even though it was never used, the scent was gone though the lather was fantastic. Enjoy that Yardley soap, Clayton.

I'm guessing that these quality soaps started dying out in the mid to late 1960s, as cartridge razors and canned goo began taking over the market. Before then drug stores regularly stocked them. Thank goodness there are artisans producing quality stuff today to fill the void. With the advent of the internet it makes their products as easily accessible as when we had to go to the drug store to get those old Yardley and Old Spice soaps.
