I have been using these bowls to make lather for at least 7 years.  They are salsa bowls I purchase them at a Mexican super market chain here in LA.  I am sure you can find them at any Hispanic outlet in all States.

There are several good reasons why I use them:

They are the right size to make an adequate amount of lather without using too much of your soap.

If you drop one on a bathroom tile floor they will not shatter.  They will probably bounce back up to you.

They come in all of these designer colors.

And best of all, they only cost $1.49 each.  When I first started buying them they cost $.99

They do make great lather bowls. In fact, one of my 6 bowls is a salsa bowl in black. I don't use it much though as I have copper, stainless and hand thrown ceramic that I prefer more. But on a budget they are indestructible.

The thread title made me look. I was expecting to see something in platinum, or at least covered in crystals. Smile

(I've been using lather bowls a lot, lately. Stainless steel is my material of choice at the moment. It is a little more expensive — my favorites were $8 and $20. Those salsa bowls seem like a great option, as well.)

I pinched this idea from another person. I can’t find who it was but the credit goes to that person. I bought what appears to be a soup bowl at a thrift shop for 55 cents. I epoxy 5 nickels and dabbed remains of epoxy around to create a rough bottom. Total cost, less the epoxy that I had from a previous job, 80 cents.

Is that wrong to use a Wiborg in a $1 salsa bowl?

Nice. I have seen quite a few remarks about salsa bowls.. One note though to others considering them, watch which bowls you get because some salsa bowls have smooth interiors and some have a textured interior. You want the ones with the texture in it.....I'm currently using the silicone bowls i recently picked up along with a stainless and a Rice bowl and a "Game of thrones style" bowl and a few others...I'm really liking the silicone ones i got without the nubs and seem to use those or the stainless one most often.
