Hi all,

Due to the recent wave of people being scammed out of a lot of money for purchasing high-end items through paypal as friends & family, we're instituting a rule that paypal friend & family payments are NOT ALLOWED on DFS, even though they're already not allowed, as specified in paypal's own TOS.

If you see someone asking that payment be made as friends & family, report the post or forward the message to myself or someone on the mod team if it was done privately. We'll initially offer warnings, but subsequent infractions may result in a temporary or permanent ban.

We'd strongly encourage EVERYONE to NOT send any payments as friends & family as it strips your own buyer protections if something goes wrong with the transaction. Plus, it could end up getting your account closed by paypal. If someone complains about having to pay the fees involved, just add a few bucks to your payment so it'll adsorb the fees. It'll end up being a lot cheaper than being out potentially hundreds of dollars.

Also, make use of our trader feedback system by either clicking on the shopping cart icon for a user inside threads, or by visiting a user's profile and clicking on the trade feedback button.

Thanks,

DFS Team

just from the PMs & emails I received alone, whoever this scammer is has taken over $1,000 from our fellow wet shavers...and that's just from 3 people!

That is crazy that people are taking advantage of people in this hobby. I know there always seem to be at least one from being on other boards in the past before the word gets around.

Understood. Thanks!

DFS is now big time - $1,000 is a felony offense. Too bad some crooks have joined the friendly ranks of shaving forums.

Sounds like another artisan had credit card fraud and the item now on eBay UK.

they targeted specific owners who were looking for high-end gear like wolfman razors and expensive brushes..

For adding fees to your prices or when buying from someone. I use this website which is the most accurate one for calculating fees.

Thank you for the warning.

Technically people asking for you to pay fees can have their PayPal status threatened as that's against the ToS as well. It's 2.9% + .30 cents of the cost of your items folks. Either eat that small loss, or price your items to reflect what you want after the fee.
