I am incensed over this auction site posting. To me this is unethical and I refuse to buy from sellers like this.

Not really. It is worth what somebody will pay for it. I wouldn't buy it, but I have overpaid for things that I wanted before.

It's an obvious money-grab and flipping items for profit is generally frowned upon but it's not against any forum rules. Free-market economy dictates that an 'appropriate' price between buyer and seller is one that both parties agree to. Once an item is sold, the buyer becomes the new owner and can do what they like with it.
Having said that, I agree with the OP and I also refuse to do business with gougers like that. There's a couple of folks here on DFS whom I've 'blocked' for this very reason.

It does not sit well with me and I generally frown upon flipping/price gauging. But I don't think it is unethical in a free market system. It's worth what the market will bear.

Markets work best when both buyers and sellers have similar knowledge.  Perhaps the best we can do is help inform as many potential buyers & sellers as we can.

I "made offer" of $100 on it. It was promptly declined. Big Grin
Could always flood him with low ball offers and I'm sure everyone could think of 1000s of things to "ask the seller a question"
