That Bald Guy with the Big Beard
Bishop, CA
My favorite soap is totally unheard of because it is actually made by a forum member's wife, and is not at all distributed. I just happened to be lucky enough to be given a few pucks in exchange for a couple straights. I think I got the better end of the deal...

As for available soaps that I don;t hear much about--

Crowne & Crane. Fairly new, still, on the market. I have a fairly wide selection of their soaps, and ALL of them perform extremely well for me. The scents are second to none. Seriously the greatest scents on the market, in my opinion. Both tallow and vegan formulas produce excellent lather with fantastic slickness. LOVE it, and they are a participating member here.

PAA. Now...I know why nobody talks about Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements. Some people hate them. Some people love them. Everybody has an opinion. I am not a "fanboy", but I do enjoy their soap. Very good slickness and protection in a vegan formula with excellent scent profiles. If the prices were more in line with, say, Stirling, I would easily have the majority of their available scents. They get talked about in friendly company, but on open forums, most people avoid mentioning the name just to avoid the controversy that inevitably devolves into a mudslinging crap-fest...

Shaver Heaven. They enjoyed some popularity over at Google+ for a little while, but I don't hear much about them. I have a tub of Barbershop scent. The scent is fairly common in it's fragrance, but the performance of the lather is really good.

Stache Soap Works. An Etsy soapmaker. Complex scents, and good performance. As a new soapmaker on the scene, they really put the focus on performance. Easy to load and lather, and generates nice, slick, protective lather with no trouble at all.

Beaver Woodwright. Between multiple name changes and marketing changes, it's no wonder you don't hear much about BWW/Black Ship Grooming, but they do make an excellent soap, in my opinion. Very good performance.

Wet Shaving Products. I think many were put off by the primarily Amazon distribution early on, but this is actually a very good soap. Excellent lather that is easy to load and build. Good stuff!!

Great thread TONE Shaves! I'm hoping i can discover a few brands here that will soon end up in my den...and yes, I'll soon be looking into Shave the Queen Smile

I don't visit other shaving forums, Reddit, Google+, etc so maybe this soap does get talked about in other places. But I don't often see posts about Shannon's Soaps here. For me, it's one of the best performing soaps i have. The proto-lather tends to be similar to L&L in terms of that ooey-gooy paint-like substance. It's not as pronounced as L&L's but it's there and results in a wonderfully slick lather.

And a +1 to BadDad 's call on Crowne & Crane. I get some really great lathers with both the vegan and tallow versions. And the Cognac & Cubans is one of my all-time favorite scents!

Wet Shaving Products - I've tried both the Rustic and Formula T and find both to be quite good during the shave and post feel. Only problem I have is with the scent strength of my Formula T Citrus Blast. I would give it a 4 out of 10 on scent strength, not exactly the Blast that is implied in the name . In Rustic I have Matterhorn and it has good scent strength

Provence Sante - I have the Green Tea.

Crowne & Crane is a big YES.  This line is going to be doing something, I just know it.

And about Beaver Woodwright  or Blackship, Flagship, Pirateship, Pack 'n Ship.... whatever they are calling it now.... you are right, super duper great soaps but this company could be so much farther along.... I've seen them make very bad marketing decisions.  For whatever the reason(s) they have had to make those decisions, it has hurt them in my professional opinion.

And WSP... man, I hear great things about them all of the time, but I have had such bad luck with their brushes (bad shedding) that I kind of just shunned the entire product line.  Maybe it was just a fluke and I should give their brushes another run, and try a soap or two

Hey Jason, you won't be sorry with those STQ soaps, at all. Plus I just love the underlying 'faith' tone to the products. I know the products weren't being produced for a minute. Not sure if they started up again. I believe they are a part of Tiki Soaps. If you can't find any, let me know.

;-)

This is another well established soap brand that doesn't seem to be talked about quite as much as it used to and that's a real shame.  The scent (in this case) is, indeed, true rose, just as promised on the label, the shaving properties are excellent, and the prices (US$10.00 for three ounces and US$15.00 for 6 ounces) are some of the best in the business.

Crowne & Crane, my wife started to wet shave and she loves them as well. I didn't even bother to take a photo of the bath soap or balms that we own. Very good product from lovely folks.

Yeah man, I have quite the selection of Soap Commander soaps and everyone of them is perfect!  I never really noticed before, but you're right, they don't get much hype in the forums.

Here's another line that people seem to really reverence, so much so, that I believe this soap line is regarded as "high-end" or "premium". They deserve every bit of those types of accolades, but I never see anyone talking about or posting Ballenclaugh:

My very first SOTD here at DFS, I used the B&C 'Hot Barrel Rose'
