I got maybe 100 shaves out of it before one of the magnets broke off in the shower one day. I haven’t tried to use it since, but seeing as these have a more vintage loading system with no magnets I’d be curious to try one. I’ll probably pick one up next year as I’m in the sabbaticals for this year, but I will admit they do look appealing.

Alright guys and gals, quick little review. I’ve used the twig and thorn in some capacity since receiving it last Saturday thanks to the passaround from DanLaw. First I want to say thanks to Leaf for offering this and Dlaw for arranging it all.

So far I’ve had 1 head shave with the Thorn and one with the Twig. For the head shaves it’s almost a toss up to which one I enjoy using the most. The Twig is a great little razor that’s nimble and easily gets into tight areas around my ears. However, the Thorn covers more ground and makes it less time consuming for a dome shave.

I’ve also used both razors one time for a face shave, in this area the Thorn outshined the Twig when using the same blade, brush, and soap as it has a heavier feel making it seem like an old school razor imo. I’ve also done a side by side shaving using each razor on my arms, this is where the Twig wins hands down. It’s like slicing butter how easily it took off the hairs I had. The Thorn didn’t do a bad job either, but as nimble and small as the Twig is, imo if you’re shaving your legs or arms then the Twig is a must have.

All in all I’ve been happy using both of these and again thanks to Leaf and DLaw for organizing the pass-around. Honestly, as cheap as both these razors are I can see myself buying both in the near future.

Great face shave with the thorn the morning.  3 passes and a DFS.  Not sure if this will replace my Vector, but it’s just as smooth if not smoother using the half DE blade as compared to the AC blades.  Not quite as close cutting, but for days when I need a quick shave this is going to be the answer.

Quick little update.  Been having great shaves still with the Thorn, however did another head shave today with the Thorn and this thing might actually replace the leaf for me.  It’s amazing how smooth this thing is.  Not only for the dome, but this bad boy is perfect for body shaving.  I’m definitely getting one of these as Leaf has made won some business from me for sure.
