My wife bought Truefitt and Hill Sandalwood and Trumpers Coconut for Christmas and I haven't used either yet. Based on the ingredients I suspect they may be similar but I like the consistency of T&H better based on looks and feel. I was thinking about trying Truefitt and almost bought it recently so glad I held off. The scent is very nice on the sandalwood, and the coconut is clean smelling but I don't get much coconut from the container. Anyone care to share their experience with either or both? I will probably shave with one tomorrow but I'm still enjoying my new B&M and Tim's so might put them off a few more days.

Both Truffit & Hill and Geo. F. Trumper, along with Taylor of Old Bond Street are sometimes collectively known as 'the three Ts' and are produced by the same company so I suspect that their formulas are pretty similar. I have only had experience with each of these three brands' creams and all are very good, in my opinion.

I've never used T&H creams before. I personally don't use creams that often but when I do its either Trumpers GFT, Spanish Leather, Eucris or Taylor of Old Bond Street Shaving Shop. And out of those I tend to favor Spanish Leather because the scent is amazing.

I agree, Jerry, that assuming various soaps/creams are quality in the performance department then it really comes down to scent.  However, for me, a lack of performance with a great scent is useless.  I learned that a long time ago with Caswell-Massey shaving soaps and creams.  Amazing scents but almost useless performance.  I no longer purchase them.

Very true! Nothing worse than having a great smell while Shaving only to be left Razor burn and nicks/weepers due to an underperforming cream/soap.

*Edit - I take that back. Using a scent that is horrible with an underperforming product would be worse. But who would do that? lol

Thanks Freddy. Yeah, I'm aware of the 3 Ts and have TOBS which I don't have in my rotation any longer but it is a pretty good cream just not as good as XPEC or my soaps. That same company owns SJOL too but I hear it is quite different so wondered if these two are. The ingredients of SJOL are entirely different though, whereas these two are nearly identical, but of course the percentages could be vastly different so that doesn't mean a whole lot. I was just curious if the two are nearly the same in terms of performance because if so I might just keep T&H and exchange GFT for something else. I really like the sandalwood scent on the T&H too.

I used to have some GFT lime in my shaving drawer. I believe the wife ended up finishing it off. I don't think it's worth the cost when there's plenty of artisan soaps in the marketplace that perform as good, if not better, than the 3 Ts.

Andrew, while I wouldn't have agreed with that just a few years ago, I definitely agree now. Happy2

I think that right now it is the artisans who are driving the wet shaving trend, and not just in software but hardware, as well.

I agree with you. when I was first introduced to wet shaving around 5 years ago, the 3 Ts were still widely popular & the cheaper options were typically palmolive, nivea, arko, c.o. bigelow, etc.

GFT Coconut cream is still one of the best products I've used. I couldn't find a scent of T+H that I liked though the performance was good. I find TOBS inferior to both of them.
