I know we don't generally talk cartridges around here, but I think if there's a cartridge razor out there that gets any respect, it's the Gillette Trac II. So I got my dirty little mitts on a Trac II compatible handle and now need to find good blades for it.

What Trac II compatible blade would you recommend (good to great consistent performance coupled with longevity) and where is the best place to buy them without breaking the bank?

Ebay is full of them.

Secretary Ramsey put his foot into it yesterday . . . in the course of his remarks he said that California “needs water and better society.”  “So does h-ll,” yelled someone in the crowd.

I am looking to retry the Trac II myself. Been looking at the handles on line. Do you mind me asking which one you bought and how it looks?

I’ve only tried Personna Twin Pivot Plus blades and Wilkinson Twin II Plus blades. Of these two, I preferred the latter for their sharpness and better feel.

I have some unopened Schick Super II blades from the late eighties that I haven’t had the heart to open and try, yet.

I landed one similar to this one on eBay.  The one I got is chrome with a black handle.  Should be getting it in a few days and can speak more to it then.

Anyone have any thoughts about the Gillette 7 o'clock PII blades, SuperMax SII or the Schick Super II blades?

I just buy the Gillette brand from Walmart, I only use this razor for carry-on travel so I haven't tried any other blades because I really don't use it often, they give an acceptable shave.

Stop by The Dollar General Store. They usually have 5 carts for a dollar. It has the aloe strip. They seem well made and have good longevity. They used to have a packed of 10 for a dollar but I think those are discontinued. I cant remember who makes them but I think they are Dorcs.

These are long discontinued. Wink  If you can find NOS somewhere, they are the ne plus ultra of Trac II cartridges.  With Kiss My Face cream or Van Der Hagen Deluxe soap, I get an effortless, absolutely irritation-free, baby bottom smooth shave every single day.  Just amazing!

CVS store brand cartridges work reasonably well for me.  Not as good as the above carts, but certainly acceptable.  Gillette cartridges give a little better shaves, but are more expensive.  Actually, really pricey now.  I was surprised at how much the cost has gone up, and it reminds me why I switched to a safety razor and double-edge blades.
