I posted a quote somewhere on DFS a little while ago and while I can’t recall the source at the moment it went “a person who works with their hands is a tradesman. A person who works with their hands and their head is a craftsman. A person who works with their hands, their head and their heart is an artisan.”  I think Ben Esposito of House of Mammoth is an artisan.

Despite the fact that I don’t care for leather in a scent I’ve got a House of Mammoth Almond and Leather on the way. My main objection to leather is that it’s often wielded with the subtlety of a sledgehammer. What I’ve experienced with Mood Indigo and Hygge leads me to believe (hope) that Almond and Leather will be equally masterfully blended and probably won’t assault my senses like a tannery or an old cowboy’s saddle. I’ll post my thoughts once I’ve experienced it.

We try to maintain a supportive and respectful community at DFS and for the most part I believe we’re successful in that objective.

I received my Almond and Leather set from Top of The Chain yesterday and it was as I had hoped. When I initially stuck my nose over the tub I thought oh no leather but then surprisingly the leather scent morphed into a complex almond scent. It’s like my brain shifts. It’s a very nice, soft and subtle scent. An excellent addition to my House of Mammoth collection. Thanks Ben  Happy2

I recently received Z, the unscented Tusk formula. I had a fantastic lather, and a resulting great shave experience. I am very pleased with this impulse purchase based on the enablers posters here. Thanks for helping me find a great soap and a great artisan soap!

I tried out Mammoth Mood Indigo today (picked up a once scooped tub off another BST) and Tusk is a great soap base. It is up there with my other top soaps, at least based on this first use.

Never tried this brand. Which one would you guys recommend ..hygge or something else from the stuff available. Am a big fan of barbershop frags in soaps but Zingari Wanderer was a disappointment from scent perspective though sego base was good.

Ive only tried Hygge, Mood Indigo and Almond and Leather.  If you're a leather fan then that one but for me I'd say its a toss up between Hygge and Mood Indigo - theyre both great.  I get a hint of Tom Ford Oud Wood in Mood Indigo.  Its by no means a dupe though, its its own scent.  Theyre all soft and subtle scents.

West Coast Shaving has a House of Mammoth exclusive listed - Embrace - sounds nice

Strange scent: red wine + cardamon & pepper, mixed with coffee, topped with musk ... don't mind the rest Huh  I'm just curious - shaken or stirred?
My, my, where this hobby goes?
