It took me awhile to get cella in my soap cabinet. after the first use I re-lidded it and left it for a few weeks. After that I tried it on a weekend and bowl lathered it. This changed its smell and performance in its favor in my opinion. cheers to all.

My first time on a thread like this. I have Cella and I've been using it for about 9 months, I love the scent and the slickness it delivers but I don't think it offers much protection (in comparison to RazoRock's XXX for example). Is it just how the soap is or do I need to dial it in more? I would be curious to know peoples take or just their views regarding Cella in general.

Cheers!

Nine months is more than enough time to decide that when it comes to cushioning, Cella is not for you. Not to worry. There are so many soaps available now that you'll find soaps like XXX that you like and that don't cost a whole lot. There are two things I've learned in my time as a shave geek. First, most every product, regardless of what it is, will work great for some and not great for others. Second, price does not indicate quality. I have soaps and creams that range in price from about $4.00 (Arko, which I like a lot) to $65.00 (XPEC, which I like a lot).

I suggest you try a few. I can't add much to the standard recommendations. Tiki seems to offer a lot of cushion. It's not as slick as some but it offers a lot of protection for me. Kiss My Face, which I love, is inexpensive and has a great balance of cushion and protection--check out the Mad Scientist of Wet Shaving on youtube for his advice on using it. Catie's Bubbles all seem to have a good balance of cushion and slickness.

I love Cella and find it offers great cushion but when YOU want more cushion, look elsewhere. When you want the great almond scent and slickness, break out the Cella.

I used Cella a few days ago after about 8 months of "Top Shelf" only soap and really had a great shave. I found that it performed much better than I remembered. My soap lathering process had changed. I began to load heavily and face lather adding water slowly to get a dense slick lather. My previous method gave me more Gillette foamy type densities. I would say loading it like the YouTubers has really improved my shaves.

Cella has the potential to be a very good (not great) soap that can produce a dense & slick lather. It is one of the easiest soaps I've used to demonstrate different way to lather as well as different types of lather.

If it doesn't dial in for you easily then move along. There are plenty others that will.

I find Cella to be very good, considering it is dirt cheap (at least here in Europe).
I mean for the 4oz package I payed like 3 bucks.

I think protection is really good, you just have to add water very slowly so it can work up its cushion. Of course there are soaps that have better protection, but it gets the job done easily.
However aftershave feel is not as good as with some others (more expensive) soaps.

So considering its price point it is really good, however for a little more there are better options, why I rarely use it anymore (and I think I have none left at the moment as I gave my last one away).

I am not a big Cella fan, because I very much prefer the "Valobra crema di sapone purissima" which for me is miles above the Cella.

Scentwise they are quite similar. It's a scent with reminiscence of almond paste (scent of bitter almonds).

Hi Shave Tank, first I would like to say that I really enjoy watching your videos. I agree that adding water slowly is the key with Cella. When I first starting using it I wasn't impressed, but I tried different methods and eventually discovered how to get a great lather with it. I find that it works best with face lathering, but YMMV.

Indeed I think that is the way to go.
