I've compiled a list of all shaving artisans, vendors and hardware manufacturers affected (and keeping it updated).

why would someone do this?

Couple of reasons...

1) They have nothing better to do
2) Bragging rights
3) Revenge against one or more companies, "the west", capitalism or America
4) They were hired/told to do it
5) All of the above

Mostly though, because they're sh1theads.

Someone figured out how to get IOT devices to act like a bot net.

All the web connected toasters and lightbulbs that people never bothered changing the default username and passwords for.

Bunch of kids playing with new game.

That or it's just a distraction from something else to keep people from finding out about it and discussing it.

sounds like a good time for the engineers having to mitigate that. Sad

edited to add: this is a good time for the merchants to start looking into slave dns set ups..dns.he.net can be used a slave for free and it's well known throughout the world. buddydns.com and ns1.com are more free options.

I am a bit ignorant of what has happened. Are you guys saying that no one is able to make any purchases, at the moment?

Some of the internet is being overloaded.

Making it really slow and unresponsive.

We will probably never know the reason, and in the end it doesn't really matter. What does matter is how to counter the effects of future attacks. Not to mention that many people here have so much shaving stuff they can go for years without needing to buy more. Wink
