I hope your goods get to you in time for Christmas Dave.

Thanks Mike, I don't need it by any specific time. Just find it comical when you see what makes no sense and understand the putting on the wrong truck could be an accident due to over stressed and understaffed workers.

I’m glad you’re not in a rush for it, and I suspect that machine sorters and scanners running over capacity, and maybe with too little maintenance for too long, play a part in these things. Of course they can’t run at ideal capacity or be maintained ideally when demand spikes off the chart and the supply of healthy (trained) workers drops.  It is still frustrating.  BTW you are the second person i have run across in 24 hours with this situation.  The other is a Facebook friend, a pastor in Idaho.
Oh, it's just one of several for me so I know it's a widespread problem and mostly in the bigger cities where they are seeing even bigger demand on their systems.

It took 8 days for this ...

... to get  from Stowmarket, UK ==> across the Atlantic ==> clear through customs at ISC New York ==> to the the USPS Teterboro NJ Distribution Center.  Today is day the 14th day it has been stuck at an undisclosed location on its 285 mile journey from Teterboro to me.  Tracking says "In Transit, Arriving Late.  Your package will arrive later than expected, but is still on its way. It is currently in transit to the next facility."

God help the USPS.  I know the people are doing all they can.  I expect they would like as much as anyone for the system to be improved, and for foreseeable events and circumstances to be anticipated, rather than reacted to.  On the upside though, I'm getting two Christmas gifts I never even asked for - greater patience and calmer acceptance.

I've got three "It is currently in transit to the next facility" packages out there for over a week -- not yet 14 days.  On a single anecdotal level, I know -- having spoken to them -- that the folks are my local post office are working their tails off and still are good humored about it.  Unlike others, to me, USPS is, and remains, a remarkable service to the country.  It was never expected to handle a pandemic level of mail and packages nor to have so many workers out sick, much less at the same time.  I'm just sorry and afraid for those whose delayed packages might be for medicines or of real urgency.  To me, my delayed brush and two soap purchases are not exactly exigent.  I'll survive very well, thank you!

So my news feed showed me this article, this morning. Figured I'd share it with you folks, as we can all commiserate on the insane an inept behaviors USPS seems to exude more and more every day.

It baffles the mind, but is absolutely a good cautionary tale... even following all of their instructions, using their insurance, etc. you are bound to get screwed over.

(FYI - this isn't me. I have no connection. Just saw it and thought, "There but the grace of God go I")

Wow, I'm getting the same now. Wonder if they just changed something in the web address, as when I go to their main news site, it's there. Fwiw, just found out it's in Maine, so he careful Eric. Some dirty thieves in the USPS up there, I guess. Lol.

Nonetheless, the gist is a guy mails a package to his son. It contains a used laptop. The package is cut open. Laptop is gone. It arrives with a USPS sticker saying it's damaged in shipping. USPS tells him it's his fault and they won't honor his $200 insurance claim he took out on it.

That happened to a package my aunt sent this direction a number of years ago too. Empty box arrived! There are dishonest people in all trades that end up touching us sometimes....

Very true Dave. It really is everywhere, and it's sad indeed.

Though, more accurately, I'd say multiple dishonest people. I think denying his claim also falls under the title 'dishonest act'. If you don't take care of your customers, follow through with services you promise, your business is not going to survive.

Of course, the post office isn't your typical business. Still, judging from the 'pushback' during the last attempt for a postal bailout, they're not winning any favor elsewhere. They need customers IMO.

No worries. I definitely didn't think you were, Dave. Just felt like the post office needed the Riot act read. Lol. However, I should really step down from my soapbox. It's not my battle and I've had relatively good luck with the USPS.

Gotta go find something made of wood to knock on.
