It is of good quality in terms of the lather. I got one recently and it produced a great lather but I didn't care for the scent on the one I chose.

Which did you choose TSEvangelist? The one I had my eye on was the sheep's milk version, mostly because I like the post-shave feel of Savonniere du Moulin (which is of course donkey milk).

Because I have had the good fortune to travel to Europe, I am able to pick up some of these for almost nothing.  Although I do not use shave sticks, I used to bring back the tallow based Polmolive and Erasmic ones to give to friends.  In some places in Scotland I was getting them for as little as 65p each (US93¢) but even at places like Boots I was only paying 99p (US$1.41).  Likewise for creams like Palmolive and Erasmic. Other very affordable creams that I think do a fine job are The Real Shaving Co. and Kiss My Face. I have progressed on to other (and more expensive) soaps, croaps, and creams but still occasionally return to these old stand-bys and they don't disappoint.

I like MEM, but man does their cap suck on their tubes of cream.  I think I lost half of my tube of MEM because of their poor cap and having it leak inside my shaving drawer.  this stunk at the time because it was hard to find within the states...I'm not sure if this is still the case though.

ironically enough, didn't we do a group buy of MEM shaving cream back when DFS was around 4-5 years ago?!

andrewjs18, my current tube of MEM has caused me absolutely no problems with what you describe here but, yes, I have definitely felt your pain in this department.  Perhaps the problem has been taken care of or maybe I'm just lucky this time.  Also, yes, we had a group buy way back when. Winking

It's certainly not the easiest, that's for sure. Sad

Finished my first shave with Hasslinger Honig about 25 minutes ago. Used my ATT R1. Smooth and pleasant shave. 2 passes and some clean up resulted in a DFS with minimum irritation on my neck, where my hair grows in multiple directions. Purposefully did not apply any AS, finishing the shave with only cold water. No drying sensation, skin is smooth and glossy.

I am very impressed!

Thanks to Barrister_N_Mann's earlier contribution to this thread, I'd grabbed some Nivea Men Sensitive shaving cream (for all of $4 on Amazon ... really). This morning I had my first shave with it, and I must say, I'm very impressed. It lathered easily and provided plenty of slickness. I didn't use that much, and it was too much; I think a little goes a long way. For the price, this is tough to argue with. I like that it has chamomile and witch hazel in the formula, too. My only negative, really, is the scent, which is basically dihydromyrcenol, that cliché aromachemical of generic men's fragrances. No matter, though; it's minimally offensive. Glad to find this stuff.

+1 for nivea sensitive cream. Best part is that it's easy to find any any major brick and mortar.
