Questions for anyone who has shaved with both the new Twig and the Henson (AL13 Medium or Ti Aggressive):

  1) Is the Twig shaving angle equally intuitive as with the Henson design?
  2) Is the Twig as "safe" to use as the Henson design (very little chance of cuts and weepers)?
  3) Can you get a BBS shave with a 3 pass shave and a little cleanup/buffing, as with the Henson?

I know it is somewhat unfair to compare a DE razor to a SE razor, but both the Leaf Twig and the Henson are going after the same demographic...converting shavers using cartridge/plastic single use razors to higher quality DE/SE razors and blades.  IMHO, both are disrupters to the shaving market (due to low cost of entry), with extremely innovative designs.  I plan to acquire a new Twig as soon as they are readily available from Leaf.  They are currently on "pre-order" to non-Kickstarter participants.  I currently have 2 Henson AL13 razors and the Henson Ti Aggressive.  For me, those razors give the most effortless and comfortable shaves, when compared to any vintage, artisan or high end razors in my collection.  IMHO, we are living the the "golden age" of mens wet shaving products...due to the many options available (hardware & software) when compared to any other time in history.

I had my first shave with the Twig razor loaded with a Shark Super Stainless blade. Snapped in half of course. I was very impressed with the Twig. It provided a close, comfortable shave. It also is very forgiving of angle which I have come to appreciate in my razors. I will have to get a few more shaves in with a variety of blades for a final judgement, but it seems that the Leaf shaving company has designed another very good razor. The Leaf razor excels at head shaving, and will eventually try it with the Twig as it would be nice to have one razor that meets both needs. Especially for travel.

Misses wanted to dine out and what the Misses wants, the Misses gets. I had shaved earlier this morning but, wanted to get a quick one in as there was some light stubble. The Twig is perfect for a quick shave as well. Smooth, comfy & deceptively efficient. Fine shaver indeed....

I'm thinking about tying one of these. They now have the Thorn, which is a bit more aggressive/ efficient. You don't see too much of these. So I wonder which I should jump on? Anyone tried both... Have an opinion? Fwiw, almost exclusively I use the Henson Medium Titanium (and love it).

Thanks folks.

I believe DanLaw has begun a pass around for the Twig and Thorn.

Ahh, awesome. So what's the verdict on the thorn vs the original from the pass-arround-ers (hmm, I don't think that's a real word)? I'm guessing that the original wasn't efficient enough and so they expanded to add the thorn?

I'm nowhere near an r41 user or anything, but the r89 is too inefficient. It might be the exposure. I need to look at what specs they offer. Figured I'd ask around first for some experienced opinions. Lol.

Thanks folks!

It looks a bit gimmicky but, it actually does provide a decent shave. The magnetic blade alignment and the twist to open and lock in the blade actually works quite well. The blade is held firmly in place and it will take on a day or two of stubble with relative ease in my experience. Very nimble and easy to work around the corners of the mouth and stache area. It shaves sort of like in a hybrid kind of way. To me it splits the feel between a full DE razor and an injector razor if you will.  I still have my Twig and still use it with good results from time to time. Can’t say anything about the Thorn which was created to be a bit more aggressive in taking down denser beard growth over the Twig.

For anyone on the fence, the pass around that DanLaw is providing would be ideal in giving it a run. It’s a great way to see if this is right up one’s alley. You really don’t lose anything except a few bucks for shipping. Not a bad price of admission to try a pair of good quality single edge razors. Traditionalist will scoff at the idea of the Twig and deem it a novelty. Trust me, it’s far from a novelty and is a decent kit to be honest….

While appreciating surveying user opinions prior to purchasing, where there are passarounds available, the only opinion that should matter is the that of particular user. The cost to participate is postage; strongly suggest availing self of opportunity

I have no doubt that 3D printing for prototyping and CNC for production manufacturing must contribute to the proliferation of hardware innovations (for good or ill).
