A fellow shave aficionado on this forum mentioned the tendency of some of us to rave about the fancy new razor we bought only to lose interest in it and put it up for sale a few months later. So fess up. Which razors have remained your stalwarts over the years? And which razors did you fall out of love with? For me, my ATT M1, M2, R2, and S1, all of which I bought about five years ago, remain in my rotation. My vintage Gillettes get very little use even though I loved the SuperSpeeds. My Mergress hasn't had any face time in years. Neither has the Parker Variant. My new loves are the Blackbird OC and SB, the Dart, and the Timeless OC .95. I foresee using them often for a long time.

Your turn.

I would wager that you once felt this same "love" for your older razors as well as "forseeing" that you would use them for a long time.  Wink

I have had a chance to participate in many of the passarounds that are active on DFS right now and have liked most of the razors. However, in the interim I have been revisiting a few of my vintage razors. I'm getting great performance from my Gibbs adjustable, my Gillette RFB, and my Gillette New Deluxe - probably as good as just about all of the new razors I've been sampling. It almost makes me want to just stick with those. Almost.

I've been using my Wolfman WR1 0.61 OC longer than any single razor. Efficient enough to get me an easy BBC, but mild enough to use daily. Super nimble head design, incredibly smooth, it's just my do everything razor. I have tried multiple gaps of the WR2 and numerous Paradigm razors, etc, and nothing has pulled it off the throne yet.

Actually no. The Pils is a good example. I loved the way it looked. From the outset the shave was disappointing, no matter which blade or soap I used. It got benched. From time to time I'd try it. No improvement. Could have been technique but I'd been shaving with DEs for quite a few years before I bought the Pils. Eventually I sold it. I still love the vintage Gillettes though I prefer the new stainless razors for various reasons. And, while I like the Mergress and the Variant, I find that changing the angle of the handle in relation to my face gives me all the adjustment I need when using the Dart, or the Timeless .95, for example, and the quality of those razors (and of course the price) far exceed the Merg and the Variant. Whereas the ATTs I loved out of the box and continue to use them weekly, though I bought them years ago.

Hmm....interesting question. Yes, I pretty much liked them all at the start. I've been selling off a few here and there, thinning the herd, as they say.

Razors that I've had for a long time that I still really enjoy are as follows:

1) Hybrid Tech
2) Stahly
3) iKon Shavecraft 101
4) Post-war Tech

Contrary to dontfeartheweeper, I love my Pils and the iKon version the S3S, and use them both a lot, but I haven't had either one long enough to fit the topic of the thread.

My main razor right now is my Feather SS folding shavette, which I have been using since last September as my main razor. Again, maybe not long enough to say for sure that this is one that will stick, but I am nearing 250 shaves with it and I still love it, so I think this one will stay high up on my list forever.

150 or so more razors have passed through since I accidentally put two blades in my Shake Sharp Mk1. 0 and did a double take on the results of that fortuitous error.. I have no expectation any other razor will displace it as my favorite.

Love my Feather SS razors, including the folding shavette!

I truly haven’t bought a razor that I still don’t like for various reasons but a few I don’t want to be without. Merkur Futur just works! Gillette New knocks my beard off.

Blackbirds, ATT R1, Charcoal Goods, WR1 are the main razors in my den from the first day I tried them.

I have a couple of Weber’s and a Paradigm Ti I that also deliver but the four above stay on top undisputed for years
