- was it bad to submerge the M1 dial completely in water due to the dial.

- I noticed last night that it appeared that some brown liquid from where the blade is held in place was present.  Figured there was some rust up there and it was just draining and dried.  Non of the razors came with a blade in them so I saved the one that I loaded the I1 with and pushed out as it was probably damaged put it back into the injector and loaded it into the M1.  I then left the injector tool in and pushed the blade out with a toothpick it had some brown crude on it.  I then used the injector tool to try to get a little gap in there and used the toothbrush again.

Is there a better way to keep the blade clamp open enough to really get in there and clean it out good.  Also should I maybe but some type of oil in there as well as a drop down into the dial mechanism. Something like what comes with electric clippers for a little lubrication and rust prevention.  Thank you for any help and sorry for such a long post.
I'd say the water submersion was fine since it was later placed in alcohol which evaporates faster. You do shave with water after all. I'm no adjustable expert as I do not own one (at least not an adjustable injector), so I'll let some one with more knowledge comment on that. As far as getting under the spring, scrubbing bubbles is all I have tried. I just spray some as directly as possible into the spring and let it do its work. If a couple more goes with it are necessary you can, just make sure for each one it doesn't sit for more than 10 minutes as it can take off some coatings out there. Maybe try the bubbles with a blade in it and out of it since the blade will open it up more, but at the same time get in the way a little. You can also try a Q Tip with some rubbing alcohol to gently scrub the hard to reach areas. Hope that helps

Does anyone have experience with the Japanese Schick Injector Blades? Been thinking of picking some up.

Hi,

I just discovered the SE site.
It is perfect for me as I am a SE addict.

Yesterday the mailman delivered a Kamisori. I think/hope it may be considered a SE as well as a straight razor.
I have been watching a multitude of videos on the care and use of Kamisoris. There are too many variations for what is supposed to be a tradtionally rigid protocol. Most confusing. I guess I will just forge ahead and hope for the best.

It is now 4 am. I can hardly wait to try this newest acquisition.
I am all set. Shaving cream, bowl, brush, after shave, styptic powder, tourniquet and a day's growth of facial hair.

If I survive I will post a list of my small SE collection in the near future.

Thank you, Jeff.

I will try to get it better organized and take a picture.

Well, I tried my new Kamisori today. It is SHARP! Two cuts on my left cheek, one on my right and two on my chin. None were fatal.
I do like the Kamisori. It is small. Overall length is 6" and cutting edge is only 1-5/8". No handle sticking out at an awkward angle.
After I staunched the flows of my vital liquid I finished my shave with my Parker 91R DE and wound up with a BBS. I did manage to shave both cheeks, my chin, under the chin and my neck.
I see that it is going to take a good deal of practice but I feel more confidence with this than I did with that other SE, the Cutthroat.
So I put cellulose tape over the edge and will begin viewing the numerous instruction videos and copying their manipulations.
But for the next little while - or longer - it is back to the pleasures of my incomparable GEMS et al.

I'm glad you had a relatively good first kamisori shave. Sounds like fun. A picture of the collection will always be welcomed

Razor: Valet Auto Strop VC1
Blade: Modified Gem PTFE
Brush: Stirling First
Lather: Stirling Sharp Dressed Man
Post: Clubman Original
Yet another awesome shave with the VC1, a very dependable razor, and when paired with the GEM PTFE blades I know I'll have a solid shave (assuming technique, lather, prep are good of course). Love the look of this razor and how easy it is to find the shaving angle. It is also quite chatty, it sings as it reduces my stubble, music to my ears

Count me in as well.

I have a OneBlade and have used the Feather blades so far. I have Gem bladed coated in PTFE on the way. I'll wind up purchasing another razor that can use the Gem blades without removing the spine.

Here it is Jeff.

All are single edge except the Parker and the Merkur which are only used occasionally.
There are still a couple of razors I want to get.

All are used in rotation except the Valets. They have yet to provide an acceptable shave.
But I am not yet finished with them.

The Kamisori is still trying to tame me. It has the keenest edge I have ever seen despite the photo.
