I haven't shaved with the Clog Pruf yet but I did buy some GEM Blue Star razors. I used the Personna SS in the injector this morning. I'll probably use the injector the rest of this week and try the Clog Pruf next weekend.

Oh ok, I guess I just assumed you used the GEM. I had a thought about how you may have gotten some irritation then. Seeing that injectors are so light, maybe it caused you to add more pressure than normal. I've noticed this before when using my injector. It's hard not to when they are so light. They are fun to shave with though, I hope your shaves improve with it.

Be careful with the blue star blades as they are carbon and will require some maintenance to deter the rusting process.

Do you think it would be easier to learn with the Clog Pruf? It's definitely a heavier razor.

They're 2 different animals really. I just feel like it's a little easier to get the light touch while still feeling like you're cutting hair with a heavier razor. It's easier to feel the weight of the razor doing the work. Once you get used to the injector, it might take some adjustments in technique when you switch over to another razor.

Injectors were easier for me to learn. The injector blades just seemed easier to get the hang of for me. YMMV though. But now that my technique with the SEs is better I get better shaves with them, but only slightly

Hi HoosierShave,  I just tried my first SE razor Friday night, its an I1 injector and I used a Schick blade.  Its pretty mild but I still got some minor irritation.  Tonight will be shave 3 and then I will write up my experiences so far.  It is so light I was treating it a little like a cartridge only one small weeper on the second shave but the advise above is good about pressure I certainly need to remember as I tend to press a little to much with it.  Just a little difficult adjusting to the  angle and lightweight having used only the DE razors so far.  Good luck.

I think a lot of people make the cartridge mistake with the injectors. They will bite and leave you irritated if you shave with a heavy hand. Let us know how it goes as your technique improves

Sorry if this is the wrong place but as far as cleaning injectors I also picked up a M1 dial adjustable.  I soaked all 3 injectors (I1, J1, MI Dial) in hot water with some anti-bacteria dish soap.  I then scrubbed them all with a soft tooth brush rinsed and repeated.  I then used 70% rubbing alcohol and let that sit and air dry and then used 91% rubbing alcohol due to the lower water content and scrubbed them again.  They were all pretty darn clean so I didn't see the need for something like scrubbing bubbles etc.

- was it bad to submerge the M1 dial completely in water due to the dial.

- I noticed last night that it appeared that some brown liquid from where the blade is held in place was present.  Figured there was some rust up there and it was just draining and dried.  Non of the razors came with a blade in them so I saved the one that I loaded the I1 with and pushed out as it was probably damaged put it back into the injector and loaded it into the M1.  I then left the injector tool in and pushed the blade out with a toothpick it had some brown crude on it.  I then used the injector tool to try to get a little gap in there and used the toothbrush again.

Is there a better way to keep the blade clamp open enough to really get in there and clean it out good.  Also should I maybe but some type of oil in there as well as a drop down into the dial mechanism. Something like what comes with electric clippers for a little lubrication and rust prevention.  Thank you for any help and sorry for such a long post.

Thanks Scott...yesterday's and today's shave were much better. Both times I kept telling myself "no pressure, no pressure." At best, I had a little bit of pressure on the XTG passes. I'm still getting some minor irritation and nowhere near as smooth a shave as my first attempt with an SE. But at least the need for the styptic pencil is gone
