1. Do you take the blade out and clean each time? As these blades last longer than DE, I would assume we have to do so, since there isn't any other way I can think of to get rid of all the water.

2. Is there any video or pictures showing the proper blade loading mechanism. Even after my first shave, I am not sure I loaded the blade properly. I found a video (Paul H), I think I loaded the blade correctly.

3. I saw that I can get 200 blades from Ted Pella. Is there any other place I can get those PTFE coated blades in a lower quantity? 200 is a big number.

Thanks

Hi @"iamsms" I'm don't know if you saw this thread a while back on removing the blade after each shave. Its not specific to SE razors but I think the rationale would be the same regardless of SE or DE.

Before that thread I did not remove the blade after every shave but now I do. I guess you're never too old to learn new tricks Smile

I have two SE razors which are loose. They were sent to me by PIF.

Can they be used as is? Can they be repaired?

Thanks all

I've found that Connaught Shaving has the best deal on the PTFE coated blades. You can get quantities of 100.

Even with getting 20-30+ shaves from the PTFE blades I still don't remove them until it is time for a new blade. Connaught will allow you to get smaller blade quantities. You can have them in multiples of 10 or 100. For smaller quantities than 10 I would suggest Try-A-Blade. For blade loading just make sure the edge of the blade is at the blade stops and not over and then close the lid.

I just rinse the razor and shake it off. The only time I ever remove a blade is to put it into a different razor or to can it. I've kept SS ptfe blades in a razor for years waiting for the next use and I have one in a razor right now under that condition.

You may notice that the first few shaves with a SS blade are a bit "out of control" I pretty much always use one for a few shaves in a milder razor before putting it into a more aggressive one. I also commonly get in the high 20s or low 30s number of shaves from a SS ptfe blade.

I only know of one milder razor than the G-Bar and it's not commonly found. I wish I could remember the name now, but I can't. It's a GEM lather catcher. Thanks to Waits! It's the GEM Junior Bar.

The blades on try a blade, are they as good as ted pella gem ptfe coated ss? If so, then I will go that route since 10 blades should be more than enough for a year for me.

As long as the blades are PTFE coated then they are the same. Only one manufacturer of those to my knowledge. Pella is just a distributor, they are not their own brand.

Who is the manufacturer then?
