Are all non-alcoholic beers totally alcohol-free?
No. In the U.S., beer containing less than 0.5 percent alcohol can be labeled alcohol-free. If you’re looking to steer completely clear of booze, be sure to read the label closely before consuming.
I'm still in with no alcohol since the 1st.
That is correct, most NA beers have 0.4 - 0.5% ABV. But so does Kombucha and any other fermented drink.
If you do the math, that means you have to drink about 7 of them to get the equivalent of a single 3.2% like you get in states like OK that limit alcohol content. Most light beers are on the order of 4.5%, so you'd need to drink 9 of them to equate to a single light beer. Have you ever tried to drink 9 NA beers in one day? It's probably impossible for someone to do it by accident. I bet 3 or 4 is the most I've ever drunk, and that was probably over the course of 3 or 4 hours.
mrdoug is correct about AA and other recovery programs. People dealing with substance abuse probably aren't going to respond well to placebos. I say probably because I quit drinking 9 years ago after roughly 10 years of alcohol abuse. I occasionally drank NA beer, even early in that process, and was never tempted to go back to the real thing. But I've been involved with some recovery programs and I do realize that my situation isn't common.
I'm not concerned with drinking 9 NA Beers, just trying to abide by the spirit of the thread that was started and thought there'd be some recomendations by those that knew which had maybe zero alcohol. I'm not questioning people's sobriety here. Never mind
Nah, it is still helpful info for those of us who have had issues drinking to know the facts. A good conversation, imo. Thanks to all for bringing it up and carrying it through. It just goes to show... you never know when a simple conversation can spiral out of control into actual advice.
