I agree totally. I remember when O'Doul's was the only NA beer you could get. That was barely drinkable.

Have always detested O'Doul's. The only other decent option was Clausthaler.
May have to try some of Grant's suggestions, listed above.

Guinness 0 and Sam Adams Just the Haze are my favorites right now, but there are a lot of others worth checking out. I have to go to Total Wine to find them though. I haven't found anywhere else that carries the good stuff.

Since I'm having hotwings Weds I was investigating non-alcoholic beers and found not all are actually nonalcoholic. I just want a simpleand basic wheat beer or Lager taste with 0 alcohol. Here's a quote:

Are all non-alcoholic beers totally alcohol-free?
No. In the U.S., beer containing less than 0.5 percent alcohol can be labeled alcohol-free. If you’re looking to steer completely clear of booze, be sure to read the label closely before consuming.

I'm still in with no alcohol since the 1st.

Someone had posted earlier that N/A beers are frowned upon by AA. I was told this by a friend who has been in AA for almost 4 years.

This, along with hazardous "smells like one, tastes like one... Now I really want the real thing" mentality, is probably why they frown upon it.

That's an educated guess, I quit on my own volition. My only 'network' is my wife and kids... And a cat who judges me (regardless of what I drink).

Congratulations Paul. I'm not really quiting and have no issues with it like my dad. Just taking a break for awhile which I like to do from time to time and thought I'd support the thread and maybe lose a few pounds while i was at it. Hope you have a great day.

That is correct, most NA beers have 0.4 - 0.5% ABV. But so does Kombucha and any other fermented drink.

If you do the math, that means you have to drink about 7 of them to get the equivalent of a single 3.2% like you get in states like OK that limit alcohol content. Most light beers are on the order of 4.5%, so you'd need to drink 9 of them to equate to a single light beer. Have you ever tried to drink 9 NA beers in one day? It's probably impossible for someone to do it by accident. I bet 3 or 4 is the most I've ever drunk, and that was probably over the course of 3 or 4 hours.

mrdoug is correct about AA and other recovery programs. People dealing with substance abuse probably aren't going to respond well to placebos. I say probably because I quit drinking 9 years ago after roughly 10 years of alcohol abuse. I occasionally drank NA beer, even early in that process, and was never tempted to go back to the real thing. But I've been involved with some recovery programs and I do realize that my situation isn't common.

I'm not concerned with drinking 9 NA Beers, just trying to abide by the spirit of the thread that was started and thought there'd be some recomendations by those that knew which had maybe zero alcohol. I'm not questioning people's sobriety here. Never mind Rolleyes
