I'm excited to finally announce a collaboration with @macduffssoapcompany

Continue reading for the full story of the scent.

Introducing: Black Rock.
Black Rock is heavily inspired by my trips to Vancouver Island throughout my lifetime. All the little scents tucked away in the fragrance help tell that story.
The name Black Rock comes from the Volcanic rock that can be found across the Vancouver Island Coastline. Sean at MacDuff's and I equally have an affinity for the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, the name was entirely his idea and it suits it perfectly.

I would visit Vancouver Island each year to spend time with my Grandmother who used to live in the city of Nanaimo. Nanaimo itself is a waterfront town with one of the main Ferry ports on the island, and I wanted to capture a bit of that salty sea air which is present in this soap.
It's hard to ignore the beauty of Vancouver Island. It's heavily wooded with a healthy logging industry, endless trails, and hiking destinations. Not to mention, lots of rain! And with that, we've added some cedar, evergreen, driftwood, and wet forest floor to help capture this incredible terrain.
When I got a little older, every visit I had with my grandmother we would always stop at her favorite countryside pub in a rural town right outside of Nanaimo. This pub sits on acres of land, surrounded by trees, a beautiful garden, and a little pond which several swans call home. In the garden just outside the stained glass window of the pub, there are dozens of Rose bushes and a Rhododendron shrub with massive Pink flowers. Rhododendrons seem to be everywhere around BC Canada, but it was on this property right near those giant pink fragrant flowers that I would eventually marry my wife. Without even knowing this story, Sean had suggested we add this scent. It was a perfect fit.

Scent Breakdown: Citrus, Cedar, Sea Salt, Driftwood, Rose, Fir, Cucumber, Rhododendron, Forest Floor.

Expected release early June in shaving soap and splash. Available only at TheShaveSupply.com

That's a very nice backstory Gareth, and the Black Rock scent notes sound original and intriguing.  Good luck!

IMO it was not too long at all.  It was from the heart, and I found it interesting.  Happy2  Happy2

My father, rest in peace, was a huge railroad fan, and some of that lives on in me.  In his day, a train trip from New York City to Niagara Falls was a big deal.  In my case, doing the Canadian Rockies and Banff by rail is on my bucket list.  After the recent, tragic death of a good friend, my wife turned to me and said "We need to get that train trip in next year."  We've put it off and made other travel plans because of COVID and Canadian restrictions on US tourists.  Anyway, for me, your post brought powerfully to mind both the sort of natural beauty one sees on the Trans Canadian and also the Beatles tune In my Life.  Thanks for sharing parts of your life.  Lord willing and the creek don't rise, the majesty of Western Canada will be a part of our lives in the not too distant future.

Once again, good luck with the drop!

I sincerely hope you get to do that train ride. My wife and I honeymooned in Banff, and one of the hotels we stayed at was Cathedral Mountain. This part of Banff has a very windy train track heading up over the pass and it was INCREDIBLE to watch the trains make the trek. The track itself was a major engineering accomplishment (even by todays standards).
You really don't find beauty like that region anywhere else in North America. Macduffs_Soap_Co takes a lot of inspiration from that region of Alberta.
Don't delay. Book that trip!!
