Each of the following Personna blades are labeled "Platinum Chrome."  Are they all made in Israel or the U.S.?  Are they actually the same blades or not?  Why can't a company of this size and reputation clarify this unnecessary and unproductive confusion?

I believe all the chrome labeled ones are the same blade, and i think they are made in Israel. The other ones are the comfort coated blades, or lab blues, whatever you want to call them. Those are made in the USA.

Teddyboy, I don’t mean to hijack the thread (let me know if you feel I did, and this post will be gone). But I would also like to know, in addition to your question, what is the current consensus on the Lab Blues vs. Med Prep?

Are they essentially the same blade? Has Med Prep been sterilized in a way that the Lab Blues have not? Any other differences?

Also, reading reviews on some retail sites, it seems that the quality of Lab Blues may have diminished, as of late. Although many users are still happy with them.

It all boils down to the original question: Why doesn’t Personna distinguish their blades more clearly?

Postscript: There is this article: http://sharpologist.com/2015/09/personna...-stay.html
However, it seems some questions still linger.

No problem.  Ask away.  At this point it is simply outrageous that a company with the tradition and popularity of Personna will not proactively clarify these issues.  I understand that the cartridge industry is more financially important to them, but these blades are still their products and the public's questions should be addressed.

Another issue is that when I ordered a bunch of the Double Edge blade ejector Platinum Chromes from a beauty supply site, they sent me the following:

Plain old stainless steels, which were not nearly as good. I was sent them although their offering clearly said Platinum Chrome. Go figure.

I know a part of the answer, but it is deemed 'political' by many. My information is historical, largely from the party I have beeen deemed prejudiced against. I have no personal agenda in offering it. I will let a moderator decide before posting.

The blades in the red and black packaging were made in the USA, and felt different from the other two when shaving.  At least that was the case a few years ago.  They might all be made in Israel now.

I don't see where the confusion lies.  If you try a blade and like it, then just buy blades in the same package again to get more.  As for Personna clarifying things, they might not even realize anybody cares.  Did you try emailing those images to Personna and asking them?  Being the manufacturer, they should be able to provide an authoritative answer.  They are at www.personna.com, just click the Contact link at the bottom of the page.

I don't get it.  How can razor blades be political?

If a moderator would like a PM with my information to O.K. I will post, again, without prejudice or agenda and let others make of it what they will. I posted this on B&B and saw the usual deletion, warning and slipping back under water like a dinosaur as the meteor came closer.

Weasel & Widget is the Soviet Union of shaving forums. It's not like that here. This place is normal.

If there is truth and facts in the answer and just a subjective opinion, I'm not certain there would be a problem with sharing Chris. Go for it. Worst case scenario you get a warning about it, you certainly bent over backwards to avoid offense here.
