THE OUMO ST2 HAS ARRIVED

MY OUMO ST2 JUST ARRIVED

The brush arrived as all Oumo brushes do, well packed and in a very attractive package.  The brush was not damaged and that's a relief.  First observation is that it is very well made and just beautiful.  The knot is extremely soft.  I don't have a Wald but I have seen comments that the bristle's softness reminds them of the Wald.  As for backbone, I will know more when I use it tomorrow, but it appears to be densely packed and gives a bit of resistance when I try to splay it in a dry condition.  The handle is easy to hold and I assume there will be no issues in holding it.  I will be interested in seeing how it builds a bowl lather.

FIRST USE OF OUMO ST2 BRUSH

I used the brush for the first time today. It built a lather rather quickly, but the knot holds more water than I anticipated. As a result the lather was watery. I was too lazy to start over so I just went with it. The bristles are exactly as everyone has said, extremely soft and gentle on the face. There is no scratch and nearly no backbone. That is something I need to get used to. I have 2 ST-1 knots and they are my best brushes. This ST-2 is no where near the results of the ST-1. That is not to say it isn't a very good brush, it is just very DIFFERENT to me. I will need several more shaves to get the hang of this knot and its water retention. I also need to stop being so damn lazy. Below is a picture of the lather it built and the way the bristles look after I towel dry them and how they flop over, weird.

A few of my friends tested the prototype and found it soft with little lower backbone. Carry I think then tweaked the final offering and suggested 27mm+ knots for an optimal feel.

What knot size do you have btw..

I have one with 29mm in bulb shape, I confirm that holds a ton of water, I’m not soaking it I’ve been just wetting the tips and shaking it off, starting to load directly on the soap or on the bowl with very good results.

Life is too short to not enjoy a new brush. Yours looks like a winner. Hope you resolve the feel you are after.
