I do love a challenge from time to time and thought I was ready. Post 1 for the Sailor.

That is my greatest fear with that razor and I’m glad it happened to you first my man!!
Even though I think I have mastered my technique with it, when something like that happens to a true master shaver like you, I know I still need to be aware with that beast!!

Haha! Yeah, I'll take one for the team! As you know, this razor is no joke. Let your mind stray from the task, get careless, bleed. Any other razor in my den is fairly forgiving of those stupid moments. Not Mr. Sailor. I live to shave another day, I hope.

This x10
If there is a possibility that I am going to be rushed, I don't use Mr Sailor 3.

This looks pretty interesting. LOOT gave me a heads up a few days ago. Nice looking prototype of a potential Sailor 2020. Was going to open a new thread but, decided to wait and see if it progresses further to production and go from there. Pretty interesting tidbit.

I saw a CAD model of the top cap a while back. I'm pretty sure it has a flat spot on the top...maybe not flat flat but it is not a smooth curve. I also saw what appeared to be 6 or 8 baseplates still connected in a billet. Now a barber pole handle?

And he said on IG this model will be ready in June!

I'm so stoked.

I just used the 2019 on 3 with a new Kai and had a stellar shave with it. While it really doesnt need MORE exposure, it performed extremely well with the Kai.

Now I'm waiting on June.

Today my new Sailor arrived. Murat made 4 prototypes. I consider myself pretty fortunate to have gotten my hands on this one.

I'm told the production model, if produced, will be different in finish and handle pattern. This razor has a Zaratsu polish job. I'd not heard of it before but is used on the Grand Seiko line of uber expensive wristwatches. I've yet to really study the hows/whys of the polish but it's pretty nice.

First shave was very nice. Blade feel is much less than the prior model. It's also quite a bit smoother. The 2019 weighs 145g. The new one weighs a whopping 175g. The head is taller and wider. Even so, I had no issues under the nose. The knurling isnt sharp like the prior model but presented no issues. Despite the heft, just like the '19, it balances pretty will.

As much as I like the 2019, initial impressions are the 2020 is a superior razor. This one needs to be done in raw titanium. It would take it up to 12, I'm sure.

I'm hoping this razor makes it into production. [Image: 13b262ff433162a06d0c2aa380ace3a3.jpg][Image: def6df185762cbccf9932fb71b51e6f8.jpg][Image: 077da5d7dda118fda7ea3b56ff36e422.jpg][Image: 526ba3f65014710ffc83860468c0f0d8.jpg][Image: b33a9479f373311643dd7c58bac6ad1c.jpg]

I really need that in titanium!! Another work of art! I’m nervous about the added weight though and I think a production model in titanium would solve that issue “bigly”!!

LOOT Great pics and if it has the efficiency of the ‘19 but smoother that would make for an awesome adjustable. I look forward to hearing more of your experience with it.
