The Karve Bison Glacier Colorway!!!

I just saw this today, and I have to say it looks amazing. I generally don’t gravitate much towards aluminum razors, and I have been curious about this particular one. I have fought the urge because it was aluminum, but this colorway might just be too hot for me to not get. Plus, I feel the price for it is an absolute steal.

Not knocking the razor but I don't think I'd call it an "absolute steal" at that price for aluminum when most are less in that metal. Timeless I believe at 66% of this ones price point.

I can't speak to Timeless, but I had and sold 2 Henson razors, the most recent getting sold AFTER I got a Bison. I really like the Bison, but I am a fanboy, so take this with a lot of salt!

Edit to add: I, too, thought I preferred other metals to aluminum, but Super Speeds and Schick injectors are really light and I thoroughly enjoy them, so I now have 2 aluminum DE razors, both by Karve. See, fanboy!

Not sure that I like the new color... still processing it. It's more expensive than their others, so that's a bummer. I also love my Overlander, so that keeps me from trying this one. I gotta agree with Dave, the Karve is a bit higher than many aluminum razors. However, I really like their razors, so maybe someday I'll jump in on the bison. They definitely earn their money, imo.

I actually like the color. Not getting one but understand many will want and get one and enjoy it even at the price point. Just don't see it as a screaming deal for aluminum. Peace Out

I think price points and value will vary widely across the board as that will be determined by each potential customer who's in the market for a lightweight whisker remover. Truth be told, it is more expensive than either Timeless or Henson's Aluminum variants but, it's still cheaper than the Aluminum Guerilla and there are those that wouldn't so much as blink an eye at purchasing the Aluminum Guerilla. Granted, the Wolfman/Guerilla name carries a premium to some and personally I'd consider it to be one of the best aluminum bodied razors in the business with the Timeless right behind it if not on it. Value & worth are completely subjective and will vary to no end for each individual.

But, I will say the color combo does catch my eye and Karve can and does produce some magnificent tools for the shaving world.

Even though I did check the price before I posted this, I unfortunately didn't realize until afterwards that the glacier is just shy of $15 more than the regular bison. As. Dave in KY also mentions, there are a lot of other aluminum options that are less expensive. Outside of the Timeless at around $49, which is impossible to beat at that price, what razors would you gentleman be referring to? I don't really seek out aluminum razors, but the ones that I'm familiar with, the Henson, Tritok Focus, & Alysworth aluminum razors sell for $69.99 while the regular Bison colorways are $72.89 which is just about the same price. I have seen some others such as the Syntesi by Goodfellas Smile which came in at about $79.

I will admit, however, that the near $15 price increase over the other colors has me even more hesitant than I already was in the first place to purchase it just based on the fact that I'm not a fan of aluminum. Though I have to be honest, I really, really do love the finish.

I however, do still think that most of the car razors are worth the money because I do love the ones I have. I think they make solid razors that perform incredibly well. If the glacier was at the $72 price point like the other ones, I personally was very close to not being hesitant to spend it for that.

Yep, I was thinking of the added $15 for price comparison... as well as my own beloved Overlanders (I have 2) which are up there in cost. So, even the Henson is cheaper at $70.

That said, I don't own a Henson though... just two Overlanders. So, I'm right there with you. Maybe the base cost is more, but the value of an Overlander (for those of us who love them) does make it a good deal.

The $15 does put it at a higher premium. I neglected to mention the price of the Overlander which, honestly, I would buy the brass for the same $92.04 as the aluminum. But the Overlander may be worth it in aluminum for the performance of the razor and someone who prefers the weight of aluminum. And also the color possibilities. I understand temptation. I am wrestling right now with the Gladius handle being available now. Its available in the aluminum and brass Overlander and the Brass and aluminum CB. Ugh, this is all such bad timing for me. I want them all.

Just a quick question out of curiosity. I have no interest in getting a double edge razor, and am quite happy with my single edge touch up razor, but I do have a question about material type.

Is my understanding correct that if you drop an aluminum razor on a hard surface the safety bar will bend in a way that can never really be properly fixed?
