Is the part in the photo brass or zamak? If you can tell? Thanks. Bummer.

I followed the video posted by Heritage where the guy put the plate in a vise and twisted. I applied too much pressure to the cylinder when attempting to twist it, cracking and destroying it. I'll ask if the part is replaceable, but I doubt there is any extra parts inventory.
If you followed the instructions that he posted, he should send you another. Regardless, you should be first in line for any he hasn't sold already.
Heritage responded to my inquiry with lightning speed, and I am very pleased to update: the part can be replaced!! The video I saw has been removed to prevent any other knuckleheads like me from making the same mistake.
I want to publicly acknowledge how Heritage turned this into a happy ending for me.

I didn't see that video. I just loosened the handle and the dial and turned the base plate 180 degrees and retightened everything. NO ONE should have to go to the lengths you did with a new razor. I can't believe that's what he recommended. He should send you another.
So Dave you didn't even have to take the adjuster ring off just just loosened it up (handle also) and turn the base plate 180 degrees?
Correct, 2 minute video showing

Razor: Homage Gibbs Adjustable by Heritage Collection Shaving
Blade: Wizamet
Brush: SV 2.0 Cocobolo/Badger
Soap: HCSC FNL
AS 1: Alcoholado Eucaliptino 70
AS 2: CHH Tobacco
Fragrance:
Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 1,452
2nd day with the Homage Gibbs by Heritage Colections. They could have saved everyone a lot of headache including themselves with a little followthru but it all shakes out in the end. A little loosening of the connections and turning the baseplate 180 degrees and all works as intended now. 2 minute video shows the quick fix for it. Set it on 6 and got a smooth comfortable shave with great efficiency just like Gus described but with more better verbage. I think for the money they did an outstanding job and will no doubt sell a boat load of these for those that want a Gibbs shave without modifying a blade to use an Original Gibbs. Recovery Friday off for me and hope all have a SFD, Stupid Fun Day !

The Gibbs Replica showed up today.
Mine was on the N setup too.
I was monkeying around with this silly thing a couple of ways and it appears to be starting on 6-1-2-3-4-5-6-1 it's off and a 8 speed. I've spun the adjuster bottom plate 180 degrees it starts on
6-1-2-3-4-5-6-1 or N depending on the base plate orientation.
If I fip the dial ring upside down it's the same thing either starting on N or the ole 6-1-2-3-4-5-6-1 routine.
