FWIW with the tabs. 

My main razor is a Gibbs adjustable. I use it multiple times a week, and used the tabs for about a year. Clouds was kind enough to send me a blade notching jig, which lets me notch the blade accurately. I had very bad success using a punch, basically splitting every other blade, or mis-centering the punch. So the tabs were great for actually being able to get a blade in the razor. 

I did notice a big difference in feel and performance when I took the tabs out and went to a properly notched blade. I don't have any idea why, but somehow the tabs affected the feel of the razor. The best way I can describe it is after a year of using the tabs, when I took them away it felt like it released the full potential of the razor, as if the tabs somehow neutered it. However I only noticed this when I took the tabs away, when I originally put them in, I didn't notice a thing had changed.

I do have quite a few tabs, it was the same price to have them printed in bulk vs just the few I needed.

You can watch my video that I linked above for a comparison of the prototype to the original Gibbs. The final version will have some minor improvements upon the prototype, primarly around the adjustment knob.
