That email is going to come fast Dan, I was caught off guard! Prepared, but I thought a month or two at least! Either way, I’m glad I didn’t execute on something that quite wasn’t aesthetically right for me, my self control normally doesn’t work that way regarding shaving things!

It would seem from your previous posts you are no stranger to higher end razors so I'm not quite getting why you are so critical of the brothers Evans here!! The V2 is now all 316SS and made right here in the USA where labor costs are on average of 5+ times of almost anywhere in the world, yet $185 is too much for someone that's deep into Paradigm, Wolfman, Oneblade, B&R, and such.... What did you pay for your Paradigm SE? Talk about overpriced!!

Let's not forget that the V1 Chinese offering last sold for $99 before being discontinued so its just under double!!

I bought my Paradigm SE new at retail because it’s from a genius designer, polished titanium, and also made in USA -hence the increased price difference that I feel is worth it. The Wolfman is polished like a jewel and hugely in demand because it delivers almost perfection in form & function. When the Oneblade was introduced I thought it was grossly overpriced and I wouldn’t but it. When I found one second hand for $150, it was a no brainer purchase. After shaving with it, I liked it so much that I bought a new version 2 on sale as back up. It’s worth it to me even at full retail (and it’s made in China). The B&R is polished, stainless, adjustable, & made in limited #’s. Honestly if this new General was polished SS I would also be buying it, but it isn’t and I’m satisfied enough with the original. If I missed out on the original General I would probably buy this one. The increase in price because of some improved design elements and being made in the USA is most certainly understandable, but not worth it to me at this moment. If this new General was the same price as their DE Silversmith model at $150, I’d be more tempted to purchase it. I’m happy that Colonial Razors is in business. The shaving community members who appreciate innovation & quality should embrace razor artisans. Everyone is unique & have their own reasons for what they buy and an opinion on what they feel is worth it. Everyone needs to make money and intellectual design should be rewarded with profit. I don’t want to be critical, but it is what it is and everyone is entitled to their own opinion!

Mine will be delivered today, according to USPS. I haven't shaved yet this morning as I am going to wait for the new General to arrive this afternoon. I can't imagine a design change to the General that will improve the perfect shave I already receive every single day from my original aluminum General and also my brass General. In spite of this, I think I owe a degree of product loyalty to the guys at Colonial, thus my eagerness to buy this new one.

PS: I would like to say the OneBlade is badly flawed due to the design that forces users to use the old fashioned Feather blade. I bought one of the first ones and took full advantage of the money back guarantee because it didn't cost me anything to try it out.

A very impressive razor! My current top razors are Wolfman 1.05 and Rocnel 1.95 Medium Aggressive. After the first shave, the new General is on par in terms of efficiency and somewhat smoother! For me that signals it'll get better as I become acclimated to the razor's design. Today, I used a Kamisori blade.

I like he finish very much. The weight is spot on. The handle is comfortable. Loading a blade a bit cumbersome but is not a deal beaker. Having owned about 90 straights razors and have shaved with many of them for about 3 years, I'd say this razor is closer an SR than any SE or Feather/Kai razors I have tried. It has a feel of quarter hollow/near wedge straight razor.

I paid full price for the razor.

Glad to hear Mohammad’s review. Mine is out for delivery today and I will shave with it sometime tomorrow. I will use a Feather Super in it just like I do with my V1 Stainless and Brass General. Can’t wait!!

Just finished a shave with the new General and DAMN!! That joint is now in a 3 way tie with the Vector and Paradigm SE. I even think I may put it in a tie for smoothness with the Paradigm SE and the efficiency is right there with both of the others. Used a Feather Super and it was just amazing! It has the same nimbleness as the Vector and the same smoothness as the Paradigm. I use a Schick Proline in my Vector and the same Feather Super in my Paradigm. I even used the short stock handle that came with the General V.2 and kind of liked it. I will try a longer handle with my next shave but I really like the design of this new General. The shave is an extremely close BBS! This one is definitely a keeper and the old stainless General will be going up for sale. I’ll keep my Brass General until this new one is done in brass if that actually happens.

Hey George, thanks for the mini review! So you’re saying, if Colonial does a V2 Brass General, you’ll unload your V1 Brass General in the BST? It’s that much better than the V1? I’m a die-hard fan of my V1 and LOVE my Silversmith!

I wish it was done in a mirror polish, my polish guy told me 110, which turns it into a $295 piece. Personally, I’d prefer it in Brass BUT for $185 I need a 101mm handle or the option to purchase the head only. It’s my opinion a 101mm Brass Blackbird would be amazing on a Brass General V2 or V1!

Yep, the V2 is outstanding in every way and the shave I got was absolutely amazing!
