Pre order is a racket. Legitimate vendors don't do pre-order. I am also surprised Colonial Razors is going this route.

I agree that pre order does suck for the consumer. I can see why a vendor would want to have the interest free loan.

After watching the video, I am looking forward to the item shipping. I just hope it is delivered by the end of August or sooner.

I also have a pre order and I saw the video too. The part that concerned me was that he never took apart the razor, which is not a red flag for me, but maybe a yellow flag, as you really would want to show perspective "investors" how something works.

I agree... Maybe they are finalizing the design?? Or he didn't want everyone to see significant tooling marks diminishing pre-orders or something? If you zoom in on the photos it definitely looks like it fits together like the Asylum... But it would be good to see in detail for sure. I figure as information comes out, I can always cancel through my credit card company if we aren't getting positive news and updates.

Here’s a bit of a video with the owner of CS and his sons I believe. Some interesting tidbits of info in it. A decent watch.....

Hello everyone. I want to be helpful here and I hope that I can clarify any points.

The reason I did not open or close these specific razors is honestly because these are prototypes and 3 out of 5 attempts the parts jam and instead of the head sliding apart to release the blade and accept a new blade it sticks... beyond that reason these being prototypes they have some undercut and geometry issues (a bit ugly).

I hope that makes sense. The razor in these videos is pretty rough for finish... However it really shaves great. Like the Occam's original or OREN razor these heads give you blade edge to edge shaving with nearly no obstructions for cleaning up beards. or goats... The guard and angle is very similar to the Cobra Classic.

As a manufacturer and inventor. I love the option of offering a pre-order. The costs for the molds have already been paid. This is the heavy lifting on any MIM projects costing well into the XX,xxx and sometimes XXX,xxx. The interest level from orders over this last week helps me to put in a legitimate order and put in a buffer for projections on sales. If you are willing to wait a few weeks or months you get a discount (plus bonuses that we always include). We used to do Kickstarter but it is a total nightmare for fulfillment.

I hope that helps and I really hope everyone here gets value out of a direct line of communication with us.

Have a great night DFS and happy shaving!

Regards,
Luke

Luke,

Thanks for the reply. Inquiring minds always want to know. We all kind of figured that what you were showing was not quite ready for prime time yet. Interesting that you didn't go the KS route as you did with the previous two Occams. The original Occam, I did not get along with, but I liked the OREN. My favorite Feather AC safety razors are the King Cobra (I haven't been able to get my hands on a Classic yet) and the Asylum RX. To see a razor that combined design elements of both was something that I could not pass up on , even though my money would get tied up for some unspecified amount of time.

OT - Were the Cobras designed by you folks and built by Galco, or were they designed and built by Galco and you just sold them?

I can't take credit for the Cobras razor designs but that was the brain child of the previous owners of Classic Shaving. They came up with the idea and partnered with Galco for manufacturing. Like with any product you take to a machine shop or manufacturer they help refine the prototype/IP around their manufacturing processes and your end needs. The Cobra line, design and IP is something I purchased with Classic Shaving. Galco is our manufacturer for the Cobra line. But ClassicShaving owns that IP.

Basically CS previous owners wanted to put the AC line of Feather Razors (since CS is one of 2 US Distributor's for these Feather Blades) into a safety style razor. They partnered with Galco for manufacturing and the rest is history.

Luke

Is the price increased or I'm wrong?
What such a way of pre-order is this? Very perplexed here.
