I don't know why my memory is so short these days. I used the ikon Double Open Comb razor today with a Feather blade (second use). I know its an aggressive razor but for some reason every six months or so I figure I'd better bust out the ikon DOC and have at it. A nick or a weeper every now and then aren't much to concern oneself about, however, today....as I'm happily shaving away, second pass then third and there were five or six serious bleeders soaking through the lather. Oh well, thats what alum block is for right? Of all my razors that one I haven't been able to tame and that razor has been the single best argument against me ever buying an ikon Tech which is reputed to be more aggressive. andrewjs18 I know you recently acquired the ikon Tech, well, you might want to give the DOC a try too if your tastes run that way.

Maybe if I use it for a week solid I'll figure it out Assuming I don't collapse from blood loss - I think I'm a universal recipient so replacement blood shouldn't be a problem.

Hi celestino , yes I have and while the effect hasn't been as sanguineous its been no less aggressive. It was just a reminder that care must always be taken, complacency leads to blood, its that simple. I've been using the Rockwell 6s a lot lately and while its a marvellous shaver I do think it can dull your instincts as its so forgiving even at plate 4 or 5 with a Feather. 6 is pretty aggressive but still more forgiving than many aggressive razors. Technique must constantly be practiced or else....slice

When I'm learning a new aggressive razor I choose soaps that I believe provide me with the most protective lather for my face. A nice cushion of slickness from the soap helps the alum block glide across the face.

Yeah, I hear you, I went with a soap that i like more for the scent than the performance on that day - its still a good soap but not top tier and it may have showed in the shave. I'm going to try this week with the same blade/razor combo but a different soap to see if it makes a significant difference.

I tend to prefer very sharp blades ( Feather) in aggressive razors. Last time I got a nick it was with a GSB in my Wunderbar.

Me too, I learned that blades that were murder in mild razors became wonderful in aggressive razors which is why I was trying the feather in the ikon DOC. I'll give it another chance once my blood count has returned to normal
