I had a cracked molar removed surgically this morning, and subsequently I saw this report, making me feel pretty lucky.  I wonder what the progression would have been if he had not had the operation.

That's nuts! Maybe he's part shark.

Hope you're doing well after your toothectomy.

Thats interesting - that kid has taken the teeth that other kids were supposed to have!  My son was born with an anomaly at his lower central incisors - the baby teeth seemed to be two teeth from a single root and he was completely missing the bud that would have been one of the permanent lower central incisors.  With some braces and a little other minor work everything shifted and you can't tell unless you counted the teeth.  He probably would have liked to have had just one of that kids many teeth.

I think it may be shark week right now...
The extraction went well, but with a hit to my wallet (including $100 for about 5-6 minutes of nitrous oxide). With "autumn" age come cracks in the teeth, as well as a willingness to just lose them without any cosmetic replacements. It's all been downhill since a woman in an airport told me when I was 16 years old that I looked like Paul Newman.

Yes it is shark week. Probably what made me think of that.

I had to hollar at the TV today. The local station who is part of shark week reported that a Great White was sighted off a Maine beach. They further reported that the warmer summer waters are bringing them north. If they would just watch some of their own shark week they would have learned that GW sharks are "warm blooded" and can control their internal heat, so cold water isn't a problem for them. Cold water is a wall that other sharks can't enter. Then they showed the hundreds of seals in the background... Bingo, there's the bait that drew the great white. The expert did say that it was there to eat seals. If I remember correctly the 3 shark types that are warm blooded are GW, Porbeagle, and Mako. The other sharks won't be found off the coast of Maine unless the water gets really warm.

We have a friend whose mom says that aging isn't for sissies. I can't disagree.

Interesting, John. I had a cracked molar extracted two days before your extraction. My first tooth loss. I hope there aren’t more!
