It has been a long time since visiting DFS, hello to everybody

The Tatara Nodachi Ti arrived safely the other day.  These are my initial impressions

The razor came in a well packed box containing a hard shell case with custom cut foam to secure the razor, the OC base and a pack of Astra blades.  Thank you to Michael for packing the box so well.  Be sure to look for a second box containing the stand

The craftsmanship is top notch, and the titanium razor feels well balanced

I prefer heavier metals that give razors a heftier feel when handheld, but I am sure that the lightness of this DE is unrepresentative of its heftiness

The dimpled area of the handle is only on the top 1/3 of the shaft, while it is aesthetically pleasing, given that I tend to hold the razor by the bottom of the handle, I can foresee this being a potential grip issue for me

Looking forward to give it a try and report back on the shaving performance
Ciao MadItalian greetings from Imola tonight (Zuffa Winery)!   Enjoy the razor, I will enjoy the fantastic food and wine ;-)

My thoughts on the Tatara Nodachi Titanium

• The razor's build quality and performance is top notch, however, Ti remains one of my least favorites DE building materials as it just makes the razor feel too light in the hand. This is not a design flaw, just a personal preference.
the head design is slim and perfect for the tight spots below the nose, the auditory feedback is adequate but not something that I would consider best in class.

• The handle is where I would seek improvement. while being very pleasing to the eye, having a shaft that is mostly slick but just a small part with minor dimples makes it so that one has to pay attention lest it would just slip away when wet. This might just be a flaw for me as I am used to grabbing the handle by the lower half rather than the top 1/3.

• I tried the razor with the Astra blades and with the Timor ones. Not much of a difference was noted. In both cases the shaver was pleasant on the skin and glides effortlessly despite having to apply a little more pressure than I am used to (being that I use a heavy rator and I tend to let the weight of the razor do the work).

• All in all this DE is a superb product. However, Ti remains a metal that I cant get myself to like on razors. I would recommend this razor to anyone looking for a high end razor and doesnt mind it being very light.

1st shave was simply spectacular. This is my kind of blade feel for a razor. Smooth and efficient.

Is it still possible to join this passaround? If so, I'd love to. I'm in Illinois.

Tatara Nodachi Titanium shave #2 went so well, that in fact made me place my order. I am shocked this razor is under the radar. Shaves so much better than the steel version for me. João is a pleasure to communicate with and very responsive to my messages. This razor provides the efficiency and blade feel I crave. Great balance, I ordered the regular Masamune handle as I find the handle too long.

Beautiful Thanksgiving Shave!! I saved my growth for today and it mowed it down. Precisely milled and amazing tolerances and really like the locking mechanism from the handle. With a PolSilver it was smooth sailing.

Thanks Dan, team of Tatara - João & Luis.

That's impressive. Calm_Shaver are there any other razors that you would compare this to? Reading this thread and seeing the Black Friday discount has me seriously considering pulling the trigger on this razor.
