Took a break today from the Tatara to be able to compare with the razor I’ve been using recently. (Karve C)
I plan to use the Tatara again on Monday and Tuesday and then will get it ready for the next person in line.

Back on the Tatara train today. I used one of the supplied and recommended Astra’s (I tried palm stropping…. Not sure if I did it right but I didn’t cut my hand?) Black Eagle HT1 along with the iced Sea Spice Lime, the jar is getting low, I love it!
The Astra behaved very similar to the Wizamet, I had another nice shave. I’ll have to revisit those blades in some of the other razors I have.

This will be my final shave with the Razor. Many thanks to Tatara and Danlaw for the passaround opportunity. I used the same Astra again today. Had a nice shave to end out my time. One weeper that was easily taken care of. I’m a daily shaver with coarse hair and I would rate this on the higher end of what I would want to use for that purpose. I’m guessing the stainless steel version would be too much. Generally, I prefer razors that hold the blade a bit flatter, so I’m surprised I got along with it as well as I did. After a couple of uses, I didn’t even think about the length of the handle.
I’ll get it sanitized and get it ready for the next lucky individual.

My time with the Ti Nodachi was enjoyable, wish I hadn’t been so busy with life to spend more time exploring the subtleties that the razor has. The fit a finish on this razor is top notch and I like the satin I think it suits the aesthetic that Tatara has established for their brand. I have experience with a couple of the stainless Tatara razors prior to this pass around but not the Nodachi and not any Ti. I love the low profile head and the weight the Ti brings to the table, the combination makes for a smooth and streamlined experience, this razor in the hand makes you feel like it’s built for performance. The closest razor I have that this reminds me of is my Carbon ++, I think it’s the similarly due to both having slim top caps. The Nodachi has some positive blade exposure but not too much that you need to stay hyper focused during the shave, just enough to keep you honest and let you know that it’s razor and you need to respect it. I had some great shaves using Nacet and Astra blades. As an everyday shaver the OC plate was more than I’d ever need but might be great for those that don’t shave everyday. The razor had a great feedback while shaving I’m not sure if if that’s the design or the Ti or a combination of the two. The other thing that people seem to be divided on with Tatara is the handle, I can confidently say that I had zero grip issues while using the razor. All said this is a wonderful piece of functional art that would be great if you’re looking for a medium aggressive type of razor. Thank you to Tatara, DFS and Dan for putting this pass around together. [Image: b893d96327d10627d11dfd370cbd5d32.jpg]

jbreakfield the razor is coming back from Canada and stuck in customs; should be here next week at the latest.

Doubt we will undertake a Canadian loop again in the future for passarounds but glad we at least attempted it.
