I have been using a Merkur 34C for about a year now and am looking to try something new. The Tatara Nodachi looks very interesting and has some great reviews. How much more "aggressive" is it? It is not a small investment to try it, so hoping to get some thoughts on making that move. Thanks!
I don’t have a 34C, but from what I know of it you might be better serves by one of the Masadachi combos. The problem is that you would have to order that direct, which isn’t really a downside. If you prefer less blade feel with some good efficiency then you would get the Nodachi plate with the Masamune cap. If you want more efficiency and some blade feel you could get the Masamune OC plate with the Nodachi cap. The problem for me with the Masamune cap is that all the plates become negative, but for some this is a feature not a bug. The full Nodachi isn’t what most people would consider aggressive since the gap isn’t that high, but it does have some blade feel. They are all very smooth shaving razors and the only problem might be getting complacent because, yes you can get bit with positive exposure. But I don’t think it’s inherently prone to bite.
There's a passaround for the titanium Nodachi. See if you can get yourself added to the list to try it out.

Blade exposure is negative with some combinations of Tatara top caps and baseplates. Here's a table that shows all the blade gap and blade exposure combinations you can get by combining Masamune and Nodachi parts.
