Okay, Ryan @ Tallow + Steel, I received the Classic shaving soap yesterday and used it for my morning shave.  All I can say is, as far as performance goes, T+S is absolutely right up there with the best of them!  It is sooooo easy to lather, offers great glide, and a smooth finish.  This one will not be collecting dust stuck behind favorites because it is added to the favorites.

Hi Ryan,
I was very intrigued when I saw T&S mentioned on the forum, and was impressed with what a lot of what I read on your website. As a born and raised Winnipegger, I knew I was going to have to give your products a try.

I picked up a tub of Classic at Men Essentials and had a chance to try it yesterday and have to agree with what others have said. Your soap is up there with the best I have used. Great lather, wonderful scent and the post shave feel was the best I've experienced. Now I'm wishing I'd picked up the aftershave as well, as the scent is amazing. Great work.

Kelly,

Thanks for the kind words, and I'm happy to hear you enjoy Classic.

What part of the country do you live in now? I am Ontario born and raised, and moved to Winnipeg 2 years ago.

Hi Ryan,

I've been all over the country but currently work in Toronto and live near Port Perry.

Did I read this correctly?????? This is where I am and have lived for the past 25y.

"Handmade in Winnipeg, Canada"

Tallow & Steel is officially on my list of Artisan soaps to try. As some of you know, I don't usually jump into Artisan soaps too often and am in the middle of a year of Haslinger. But I still indulge in special soaps the odd weekend and here and there.

This is very cool news to me and I'm sorry I didn't read more about this artisan earlier. That's what I get for stepping away from the forums for a couple months.

Honestly, Bruce, I'd be surprised if you didn't like this hometown soap.  It is simply a winner.  The only thing I won't comment on is scent but only because that is too personal.  I have the Classic and quite like it but there are others.  I'll be interested to know your thoughts if you try T+S.  As far as I'm concerned, you're fortunate to have Ryan and T+S so close.

Freddy

I emailed a buddy who was excited too and contacted Ryan hoping for a local pick up option....but doesn't sound like local pick up is an option at this time. I would have thought a local artisan would want to meet up with fellow customers for a meet & greet, smell a few things first but I was wrong in this case.

So my excitement just went from high to low in a span on an hour. I'm going to sit this one out for now. Very unfortunate.

I'm still very excited and intrigued to see a local artisan making a successful run at shave products.

Hopefully this will change in the future and there will be some local retailers.
