I actually sold my Kyoto set. Why? I gave it a few tries. But, to my nose, the soap and especially the AS were very seaweed or vegetal forward with yuzu in the back seat. I know smell is totally subjective. But....given the percentages of ingredients...I really expected the yuzo to be front and center supported by the vegetal notes. For me...it was the total inverse. I realize soap makers make choices....their choice of relative intensity and balance didn’t work for me but it seems to work for others so YMMV....

Yeah I’ve read that some people felt yuzu took a backseat to the marine notes. All products were made from the same large batch of blended fragrance, so there are no variables there. It’s just an example of how people’s olifactory senses differ.

For me, I get the vegetal/marine notes first, and then the Yuzu really comes through and I get mostly Yuzu for quite a while. Fresh and bright. Then drying down eventually to woods/marine.

Sorry you didn’t care for it

No need to apologize. I can only imagine how challenging it must be to optimize a scent bearing in mind that some proportion of people might not perceive the scent as intended. For my olifactory equipment...the Yuzo was very much in the distant background...before...during and after the shave...

See, and to me, this makes me think I might like it more. Lots of Yuzu heavy soaps out there, but not many that sound like this. Hoping to snag a set on the 21st...

Andrew, the other weekend, I had a chance to get a sense of the scent of Sicily, just from the jar (no shave). The scent is beautiful! I don’t think you can go wrong with this one. Especially knowing what kind of performance goes with the pleasing scent.
