In the Nordic countries, cardamom is probably most often used in the baking of sweet items (coffeebread, cinnamon rolls), so the scent immediately is a sweet scent to me. Only later have I realized that in much of the world, it’s associated with savory dishes.

Can’t wait to find out what Tabula Rasa’s interpretation is like.

So, we can assume that you ordered the Tabula Rasa Cardamom shaving soap, Matthew?  

I think the only shaving soap or cream that I have with cardamom is Soap Commander Passion(Teakwood and Cardamom.)  It smells wonerful, but I'm not sure how much cardamom I'm smelling vs. the teakwood.

The Tabula Rasa shaving soap has a whipped texture in the tub that seems more like a cream than a soap.  At $13.20 per tub with free shipping CONUS, it seems like a much better deal for 90 grams.  Thanks for the heads up, Matsilainen !

Indeed, I ordered the Cardamom.

I’ve smelled Soap Commander Passion, and I didn’t find the cardamom to be a standout in that scent. Passion has a great scent, but it also is a blend that seems to make it difficult to discern the individual scent components.

Tabula Rasa has been a great soap for me, and a little goes a long way. I think a typical first reaction when picking up a jar would be to think it’s a rip off — the container is so light in weight. But it doesn’t take much of that “mousse” to get a great lather going.

their steam punk soap smells really good. I had some when TSN did their LE of it, but I only used it a few times before I found out that my wife used the entire DAMN tub....
