I want to add a Synthetic to my Den. There are so many out there it is impossible to choose. I only face lather hard soaps and want something at least 24mm or larger. Price is not a significant factor.  Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks

Muhle XL. They have come up with a new vegan Fibre which is more dense. You might want to have a look at that.

Paladin had a nice synthetic offering. Not sure if that knot is still available. My travel brush is a Simpson 2 "chubby". Both brushes are 26m+ Think the Simpson is 28m

Two of my favorites are the AP Shave Co. G5C and the Turn N' Shave Quartermoon. They are opposite ends of the spectrum though. The G5C has more backbone and "scrub" than a typical synthetic that I think would be good for hard soaps. It does break in and get seemingly softer the more you use it. I think this has to do with the knot loosening up rather than any change in the bristles like a boar knot. The Quartermoon has less backbone and is very plush/super soft. I would recommend the 26mm for that one. The G5C comes in a range of sizes. Mine is also 26mm. Keep in mind with the G5C you need to set the knot as high as it can go or it might not splay as much as you need it to.

I have tried many of the AP Shave Company knots and get along with most. But splay/firmness varies a lot, so that will affect your choices, too.

StephenG , may I inquire as to why you are interested in a synthetic brush for use with hard soaps and face lathering?

Either of those uses are known challenges for synthetics compared to boar brushes, and together are a double whammy. Travel maybe?

Just curious.

Just want to try one. I have a Semogue 26.5mm Boar that does a great job. I was also looking at the RazoRock Extra Chubby Silvertip as well.

For the record, I own hard soaps and face lather and have never had problems getting a wonderful lather. I like synthetic, boar as well as badger.

I only have synthetic. My go to is brushes are usually my Simpson Trafalgar T3 26mm (the T2 is 24mm), and my TRC Cherry Royale 26mm. They are inexpensive and I never have a lather issue. T3 seems to run around $35-$45 but Pasteur Pharmacy is currently showing $25.99, the TRC is $14.99. I also like the Razorock Hive 24mm Mokasoft, it is a bit softer and runs $19.99.

I just ordered a RazoRock Big Bruce. We’ll see how it goes from there.
